Kevin Owens Named #1 Contender for WWE Championship at Bash at Berlin

Kevin Owens, WWE Championship

Kevin Owens has been one of the biggest names on the WWE Smackdown roster and we will be seeing a massive main event matchup for the WWE Championship at the 2024 Bash at Berlin Premium Live Event. On the Smackdown episode following Summerslam 2024, it was announced that Kevin Owens will be facing current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes for the title. Let’s take a deeper look at the WWE Championship after Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis made it official.

Will Kevin Owens win the Undisputed WWE Championship at 2024 Bash at Berlin?

This will be just the second time that Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes will meet in a one-on-one match in their career. The only other matchup these two have had on television was on the April 18, 2022 episode of Monday Night RAW where the match ended with Rhodes victorious via countout. After winning the Bloodline Rules match at Summerslam, Cody Rhodes was able to retain the WWE Championship and wanted a new challenger after taking down Solo Sikoa.

Kevin Owens has been involved in a big-time feud with The Bloodline for the last handful of months as well as fighting for the WWE United States Championship, but falling short. Owens initially declined the title shot offered by Rhodes due to his win-loss record, but the WWE Champion mentioned how Owens has sacrificed a portion of his career and Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis was going to give the match to the returning Roman Reigns. However, Owens pleaded for anyone but Reigns and the fire in Kevin Owens’ voice was enough for Aldis to change his mind.

All that passion was great to see, but do not expect Kevin Owens to walk out of the Bash at Berlin 2024 Premium Live Event as the new WWE Champion. He has not won a singles championship since 2017, but has done incredibly well throughout his WWE career. Below is a list of the titles that Owens has won throughout his WWE tenure:

  • NXT Champion
  • Intercontinental Championship (2x)
  • Universal Champion
  • United States Champion (3x)
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champion
  • RAW Tag Team Champion

With all of the titles that Owens has held, do not expect the WWE Championship to be added to that list at this point. Things can change but barring a massive shift, expect Cody Rhodes to walk out of Bash at Berlin with the WWE Title.
