On Sunday, Kevin Knox and the Golden State Warriors suffered a disappointing 102-99 loss to the Miami Heat at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas Nevada. The Warriors’ undefeated 7-0 streak ended, and as a result, they fell short of advancing to the 2024 NBA Summer League championship.
On the positive side, Knox — a former ninth-overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft — scored a game-high 31 points and 11 rebounds and added two blocks. Knox also achieved a 12-of-17 field goal percentage and was 5-of-10 from the three-point line and was fouled out, according to Legion Hoops.

Kevin Knox, born Kevin Devon Knox II on August 11, 1999, is going to turn 25 years old next month. But, in the meantime, Knox was a bright light in the Golden State Warriors’ 102-99 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday. Golden State previously held a perfect 7-0 record at the California Classic and the NBA Summer League.
Knox, a former first-round pick-turned-journeyman, put on a show for the basketball fans in attendance. But the Warriors were reportedly frustrated in the fourth quarter as the Heat outscored them 37-29 after leading by five points entering the final frame. In the end, Golden State lost due to turnovers and poor three-point shooting.
Knox joined the Warriors’ Summer League roster on June 30 after being released by the Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz on February 8 and 9. While Knox’s performance might not translate to long-term success, there’s a chance he could display solid jump shots while shining in the field goal percentage department. We’ll see what happens.

Knox most recently averaged 7.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and a 39.2% field goal percentage. Knox’s stat line is on the lower end, but it’s not set in stone and can change in the coming days. His most recent performance was an eye-opener for the fans, some of whom couldn’t believe he played in the NBA Summer League.
Knox dominated in his first start in the Summer League with a spectacular 31-point performance, which was excellent for a Warriors rookie. He scored the first five points of the Warriors’ 10-0 run to start the second quarter. He heated up at the right time and made up for his flaw in his lack of shooting.
Kevin Knox’s Future With the Warriors
The Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Knox on June 30 to their Summer League roster and possibly their regular-season and postseason roster. Knox is 24 years young, so could still be a good addition to a struggling NBA team that wants to take a chance on developing him over time, despite his excessive hype entering the NBA. Knox might not be able to exceed the public’s expectations, but he could continue to thrive. It’s important to note not only his 31-point performance but also the fact he became the first player in double-figures in the Warriors’ game against the Heat. The Warriors finished the Summer League with a 7-1 record.
