Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ Resume Has a Glaring Hole

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. His accolades are too many to name including being a three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP, and a two-time NFL MVP. The success of Mahomes has led to him securing victories over 30 NFL teams. The only teams he has failed to notch a victory are the Kansas City Chiefs, his current team, and the Indianapolis Colts.

Mahomes has an o-2 career record over the Indianapolis Colts in the regular season. He and the Chiefs defeated the Colts in 2019 in the AFC Divisional Round. That game would end up being the final one of Quarterback Andrew Luck’s career. Mahomes lost to the Colts in October 2019 and September 2022. Kansas City’s offense scored 13 points in 2019, their lowest output of the season. The 17 points scored against the Colts were also the team’s fewest points scored of the year.

A loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the regular season bodes well for the Kansas City Chiefs as they won the Super Bowl later in both seasons. Mahomes will have the chance to defeat Indianapolis next season when the Colts come to town during the 2025-2026 regular season. Will he be able to get that monkey off his back next year?

Kansas City Chiefs Prepare For Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of history as they are eyeing the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era. Kansas City’s first Super Bowl in this dynastic run came against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. This year’s Super Bowl will feature a rematch. Mahomes played great in Super Bowl LVII finishing with three passing touchdowns and overcoming a 10-point deficit to win a 38-35 thriller.

Kansas City’s offense had its best offensive performance of the season scoring 32 points in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills. Super Bowl LIX should be another thrilling matchup as the Eagles offense had a historic performance in the NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders. They scored 55 points and Running Back Saquon Barkley ran roughshod over the Washington defense. He had three rushing touchdowns powering Philadelphia to victory.

Final Thoughts

Mahomes will look to win his fourth Super Bowl in just under two weeks and defeat the Indianapolis Colts next year. He is a tremendous player, but that hole on his resume stands out like a sore thumb. He will look to defeat them next season for a victory against 31 NFL teams.
