Jurgen Klopp entered England on the 8th of October, 2015 after Liverpool had dismissed Brendan Rodgers. He came in as a two-time Bundesliga champion, one-time DFB-Pokal champion, and two-time DFL-Supercup champion with Borussia Dortmund.
After eight years in England, Jurgen Klopp has broken so many outstanding clubs and English records and set up his own. In his first press conference, he said it didn’t matter what people said about you when you arrive in a place, but what they say about you when you leave. He called himself the “Normal One”, a parody of Jose Mourinho’s “Special One.”
In the week before his last game against Wolverhampton Wanderers which ended 2-0 in Anfield, Sky Sports did a documentary where former and current players were asked about Jurgen Klopp’s legacy. Club legend, Steven Gerrard hoped a statue would be built sometime in the future. Jamie Carragher called him the Bill Shankly of this generation.
Jurgen Klopp Set Many Records With Liverpool
In Jurgen Klopp’s nine years at Liverpool, he’s managed the club in 491 matches. The club has won 299 of those with a win rate of 60.9%. This is the highest win percentage of any Liverpool manager to manage the club in more than 50 games.
Darwin Nunez’s 99th-minute winner against Nottingham Forest on the 2nd of March 2024 was the 18th time the club had scored a 90+ minute winner in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp. No other manager in the Premier League ever managed as many injury-time winners during this period. This showed the winning mentality of his team.
In the 2018-19 season, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool chased the title till the last day. The title chase with Manchester City produced 97 points, breaking the record for the most points won without winning the league. It’s the 4th highest points tally in Premier League history.
From February 2019 of that season to July 2020 of the next season, Jurgen Klopp’s team won 24 consecutive league matches at Anfield which is both the club’s longest ever home winning run and the longest in top-flight football in England.
In October 2021, his Liverpool inflicted Manchester United’s biggest-ever defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford in a 5-0 victory. They went ahead to set the record for Manchester United’s biggest defeat in Premier League history with a 7-0 victory in Anfield in March of 2023.
In January 2024, it was recorded by OptaJoe that only Pep Guardiola had won more points in the Premier League than Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool since he took over in October of 2015. In the 2018-19 season, he became the second-fastest Premier League manager in history to manage his team to 300 Premier League goals. He did it in 142 games.
Eight Major Trophies In Nine Hectic Years
In the 2019-20 season, Klopp’s Liverpool hit the club’s highest-ever points tally after getting 99 points and won the club’s first-ever Premier League title after a 30-year wait. From October 2019 to February 2020, his team won 18 consecutive games, which is a joint Premier League record with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
In the 2021-22 season, Liverpool won the highest number of matches in all competitions, scoring the most goals with 46 wins and 147 goals all season. He departs Liverpool as the club’s only manager to win every major trophy: FA Cup, European Cup/Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Community Shield, and League Cup.
He won the FA Cup once, and the League Cup twice with Liverpool. These three trophies were won in the finals against Chelsea. After the 27th February 2022 11-10 penalty shootout victory over Chelsea, Liverpool became the tournament’s most successful club. He won the tenth trophy two years later.

A Timeline Laden With Personal Commendations
In Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp won several personal awards showing his legendary managerial ability. In September 2016, he won the Premier League Manager of the Month. In the 2018-19 season, he won it in December and March. In the 2019-20 season when Liverpool won the club’s first-ever Premier League title, he won the award five times: August, September, November, December, and January. He won the award twice again after that.
2019 was his best year with Liverpool. In that year, he won the German Football Manager of the Year, Onze d’Or Coach of the Year, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, IFFHS World’s Best Club Coach, World Soccer Awards World Manager of the Year, and the Globe Soccer Awards Best Coach of the Year. He was also inducted into the LMA Hall of Fame and IFFHS Men’s World Team in 2019.
In 2020 after winning the league, he won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Coach Award, LMA Manager of the Year, and Premier League Manager of the Season.
In the 2021-22 season, he lost the league on the last day to Manchester City on a single point. His Liverpool amassed 92 points. That season, he won the LMA Manager of the Year and Premier League Manager of the Season awards. In November 2022, Jurgen Klopp was the first football-related individual to win the Freedom of the City of Liverpool award since Robert Paisley in November 1983.
