Everybody knew that saying goodbye to the infamous Liverpool manager would be tough, but they didn’t know just how touching it would be. Jurgen Klopp is one of the best coaches of the entire generation, and probably in the history of the game. He was well respected among his players, got along well with his coaching staff, and led the Reds to numerous victories, close second-place finishes in the Premier League, and historic wins that would see Liverpool FC forever changed.

At the end of his long and prolific tenure, he made a speech after his last game at Anfield to show his staff, players, and fans just how much the club has meant to him over the years. There was not a dry eye in the stadium as the cheery and upbeat German said his farewell to the Merseyside club.

Jurgen Klopp’s Final Speech at Anfield for Liverpool FC

This past Sunday, Liverpool FC had to say goodbye to arguably their best-ever manager, Jurgen Klopp. People clamored to get into the stadium and poach last-minute tickets, head to the nearby pubs to watch the game on the TV with their mates, or sit at home and hang on every word from Jurgen’s last speech to his adoring fans and players.

There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp was a legend who was well respected and highly adored by everyone at Liverpool FC. So, when he gave his final speech, every single person in the crowd and the team paid him their full attention.

Before his final speech, Jurgen Klopp did what he normally does – coaches his team, gets along with his staff, does mundane activities in the office, decides on the starting lineup for the game, and chats with players. He was in good spirits during the last training day, as he wanted it to be remembered as a joyous occasion instead of a sad last-day remembrance.

He helped pack up cardboard boxes with his things, console emotional coaches, and have nice conversations with his players during his last training day as a manager.

‘So, here I am, last day in the office. Last session done and it was strange I would say. Few of the coaches got quite emotional, I would say. I didn’t quite yet. I told myself that tomorrow’s a game and after that is holiday.’

Little did he know the fanfare that would be waiting for him as he made his final speech at Anfield. Thousands of fans gathered around Anfield to swing banners with his face on them, sing personalized chants for him, and make sure he knew just how much he was loved. Even the message ‘Danke Jurgen YNWA’ was spelled in the crowd with the infamous red and white. ‘

And the waterworks officially started in the last few minutes of the Premier League game, when Jurgen Klopp began clapping with the crowd, singing along with the orchestra, and hugging his players and coaching staff. He had super-long hugs and embraces with Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, and other long-time members of the squad.

For his speech, Jurgen Klopp was his usual self – upbeat. He asked the crowd to not be sad but to think of the best times together with the club. He sang the name of the next manager, Arne Slot, to encourage the fans to treat him well. This goes to show just how selfless and thoughtful he is as a person and a team leader.

‘No one tells you to stop believing. This club may be in the best position ever…There has been such a long lead-up to this day and it was really intense. I had my bad moments as well but, thank God, not today. I’m just thankful for what happens. When you are in it, you forget sometimes how great it is. You take it for granted. Now I stand here, I’m just so happy to be a part of the club’s history. It’s wonderful.’

One thing we know for sure – there will never be another Jurgen Klopp.
