Jude Bellingham Out for a Month With Nasty Calf Injury

Real Madrid have announced that their key midfielder, Jude Bellingham, is dealing with an injury. While the club has not specified the exact duration of his absence,  well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that he may be out for approximately a month.

If Jude Bellingham is sidelined for a month, he will miss three important fixtures for Los Blancos: a home match against Valladolid, an away game at Las Palmas, and a home encounter with Real Betis. Should his recovery extend beyond the initial estimate, he might also be unavailable for games against Real Sociedad and Espanyol.

The injury occurred during a training session on Friday morning, raising concerns about his participation in Real Madrid’s first home match of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid has a decision to make on whether a youngster like Arda Guler is to be given a chance to start the game or experienced Luka Modric who may make his way into the starting line-up.

An official statement from Real Madrid reads: “Following today’s tests conducted by Real Madrid Medical Services, Jude Bellingham has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia of his right leg. Further updates will follow based on his progress.”

The 20-year-old English midfielder, who has quickly become essential for the team, did not complete his penultimate training session due to this issue. Real Madrid will be eager for Bellingham to recover quickly, as his presence is crucial to their midfield setup. Manager Carlo Ancelotti may need to adjust his tactics in the coming weeks depending on Jude Bellingham’s recovery. The club’s medical team will be working diligently to ensure his return is both timely and safe. In the meantime, Real Madrid will need to depend on their squad depth to cover the absence of the talented midfielder.

Jude Bellingham to Miss International Duty

The 20-year-old was unable to complete a training session on Friday. Spanish reports suggest he may be out until late September, potentially missing Lee Carsley’s first two matches as England’s interim manager. England is scheduled to play against the Republic of Ireland on September 7 and Finland on September 10 in the Nations League.

Carsley, who was appointed interim manager earlier this month after Gareth Southgate stepped down following Euro 2024, will be selecting his squad for the Nations League games on August 29. Carsley will be supported by former England left-back Ashley Cole during his interim period, along with ex-England center-back Joleon Lescott and Tim Dittmer, the FA’s head of coaching. In his debut season at the Bernabeu, Jude Bellingham scored 23 goals in 42 matches, contributing to Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League double. He played in last weekend’s 1-1 La Liga draw at Mallorca and the Super Cup win against Atalanta earlier this month.
