Josh Warrington’s Bid for IBF Super-Featherweight Title in Jeopardy

Leeds Warrior Josh Warrington might be on the brink of an opportunity to lose a shot at the two-weight world boxing champion. Warrington has another fight scheduled and is expected to fight with IBF super-featherweight title holder Anto Cacace next weekend at Wembley Stadium. This fight is a clear step up for Warrington and the fighter has previously held the IBF featherweight title twice. However, the IBF has not officially accepted him as a challenger due to his inactivity in 9st 4lb division and that he is not ranked in this division. Why Battle on a Celebrity Fight Card? The fight card, which has Daniel Dubois to face Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight fight, is set to have strong support from the Riyadh Season. However, there are still some doubts, but those, who are involved in the organization of the future fight are constantly appealing to the IBF and asking to recognize Josh Warrington’s match against Anto Cacace. This fight is also lined up for the IBO title which is however a less recognized belt than the IBF championship. Josh Warrington’s Recent Record and Setbacks https://gty.im/2170882451 Josh Warrington has fought hard to get back to his previous form, the last time we saw him celebrating a victory was in June 2022 when he knocked out Kiko Martinez to reclaim the IBF featherweight belt. Thus, their reign was rather brief and his first defense of the title against Luis Alberto Lopez later that year saw him losing the belt. Last year Josh Warrington fought for the WBA title belt in 9th category but he was knocked down in the seventh round even though the game was in his favor. It has worsened his troubles in trying to rebuild his career in the sport in this recent defeat. Uncertain Future for Undercard Fighter Apart from the main event uncertainty, one more factor which is in the air is the participation of Josh Kelly in the Wembley card. For the  Liam Smith bout, he is probably going to pull out due to what has been termed as a virus. The development has made Kelly and his team optimistic that the bout will still be on the list, given the problems that are informing it. And as the fight date draws near, the official nod from the IBF is the key to Josh Warrington’s plan to move up in weight and take on Cacace. It increases the drama level to an already blockbuster event scheduled for Wembley stadium with boxing fans waiting for the confirmation of the fight and or any adjustments to the supporting event.
