Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his historic performance at home against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. In a snowstorm on Sunday, Allen was at his best. He was 13-of-17 with 148 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns.
He also became the first quarterback in league history to have a passing touchdown, rushing touchdown, and receiving touchdown in the same game. Late in the third quarter, he completed a pass to Wide Receiver Amari Cooper who then lateraled the ball back to the QB who beat the 49ers defender to the pylon. This play was also scored interestingly as Allen was credited for a receiving touchdown, but not a reception. Will the Buffalo Bills star QB be able to carry his strong performance last week into the final weeks of the regular season?

The Buffalo Bills(10-2) clinched the AFC East and playoff berth with their victory on Sunday. The team was able to clinch a postseason spot on December 1 due to the play of their QB. Allen is tied for sixth in the league with 20 passing touchdowns and is second in QBR. When factoring in his rushing prowess, Allen is fourth in the NFL in total touchdowns with 27. He trails only Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Baker Mayfield in that category. Allen is also now the odds-on favorite to win his first NFL MVP this season.
Final Thoughts
Allen and the Bills have a tough game coming up as they have to travel across the country to face a Los Angeles Rams team that is fighting for a playoff spot. Buffalo is only a game behind the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC’s No. 1 seed. The top seed has become more important in recent years as only one team earns a first-round bye in the expanded playoff format.
The Bills hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the two-time defending champions in Week 11 30-21. The entire Buffalo Bills organization understands, after years of playoff heartbreak, that regular season success means nothing if it is not followed up by success in the NFL Playoffs. All roads will lead to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, and Allen is 0-3 against Patrick Mahomes all-time in the postseason. The MVP-caliber season from Allen, and the overall play of the Bills team, gives the team a good chance to reverse that trend in January 2025.
