Jose Ramirez Continues Tremendous 2024 Season

The Cleveland Guardians clinched the division.

With a two run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning tonight, Cleveland Guardians Third Baseman Jose Ramirez became one of only two players this season with 90 or more RBI. He joined New York Yankees Center Fielder as the second player to have 90+ RBI this regular season. Judge is leading the league with 99 RBI.

Ramirez went 2-of-3 tonight as the Cleveland Guardians dismantled the Baltimore Orioles 10-3 at home. The home run by Jose Ramirez was part of a seventh inning that saw the Guardians score five runs. He is having another MVP-caliber campaign in 2024. Ramirez is hitting .278 this season with 28 home runs and 90 RBI. He is fifth in the league in round-trippers and second in RBI. Will Jose Ramirez be able to keep up his great season as the Cleveland Guardians fight for playoff position?

Jose Ramirez Career Summary

Ramirez made his debut with the Cleveland Guardians in 2013 and has been one of the best players in the league ever since. He is a six-time MLB All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger Award winner. The best year in the career of Jose Ramirez came in 2020 when finished second in American League MVP voting. He lost out to Jose Abreu for the MVP award that season. Ramirez finished third in AL MVP voting two other times as well. He is a career .279 hitter with 244 home runs and 836 RBI.

Cleveland Guardians Season Summary

It has been a great season for the Guardians(66-42). Winners of four straight games, they now have the best record in Major League Baseball. They have been one of the league’s best teams with what has been an average offense this season. They are 16th in batting average, 11th in batting average, and 13th in runs scored. Their offense is paced by Ramirez, First Baseman Josh Naylor, and Left Fielder Steven Kwan. Naylor is 12th in the league in home runs and ninth in RBI while Kwan is second in the league in batting average.

The pitching staff of the Cleveland Guardians has been the far stronger part of their team this season. They are fourth in ERA, eighth in strikeouts, fifth in WHIP, and third in opposing batting average. Their staff is led by Ben Lively and Tanner Bibee. Lively leads the team in wins(10) while Bibee leads them in ERA and strikeouts. Closer Emmanuel Clase is also tied for the league lead in saves with 33.

Guardians Upcoming Schedule

Cleveland plays the second game of their four-game set against the Baltimore Orioles tomorrow night. As these teams are separated by two games in this standings, the remaining games of this series will have huge ramifications on the American League playoff picture. The Guardians begin a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks at home on Monday.

Cleveland has World Series aspirations as the regular season enters the home stretch. They have been a consistent contender in recent years, but are looking for their first World Series win since 1948. They hope 2024 is the year where they break one of the largest championship droughts in all of professional sports.

Jose Ramirez will need to continue playing well and anchoring a Guardians offense that has not been strong. The offense will need to pick up the slack for the Guardians to reach their fullest potential and compete in a competitive American League.
