Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic Confirmed by Dana White for UFC 309

Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic

Fans were shocked to see Jon Jones back in the gym, although there were no chances for him to be back for the next two years. The reason for the long break of over a year was a serious shoulder injury.

However, with the recent announcement we now know when he will be back in the octagon, and that is UFC 309. Meanwhile, another fighter who sought to step up to fill that gap was interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, but he could not get a chance to face the Heavyweight champ.

Dana about Inevitable Fight

UFC CEO Dana White indicated that a Jones versus Aspinall fight is inevitable only if Jones manages to defeat Stipe on the new proposed date. Before White confirmed the venue for the upcoming UFC 309, he also confirmed some other interesting fights on the UFC 309 card.

ESPN wrote on their ‘X’ account. Jon Jones will face Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC309 on Nov. 16 at Madison Square Garden, UFC announced.

Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic have fought in UFC for a long time and we can understand this as we know that Jones has defended the Heavyweight Title for years. On the other side, Miocic has won the title two times and is regarded as the all-time best in the division. For now, they both are on the edge of their careers and are near to opening a new chapter of their lives.

Dana White Announces Shocking Retirement

During a recent interview with Complex, Dana white spilled the beans and also talked about the possibility of Stipe Miocic retiring after this fight. Moreover, White also revealed the location by saying this; “Jon Jones is going fight at Madison Square Garden in November. And then if he wins, or Stipe wins, we see what happens next, you know. Who will retire, or whatever, do I think Stipe will retire? I do. I do think he will. But you never know. Stipe might want to take the challenge, but I know for a fact if Jon Jones wins that fight and all this talk that’s out there, there’s no way in hell he’s not fighting Aspinall.”

Tom Aspinall used to make funny videos on social media in which he mocked Jones for dodging the fights a lot of times but all the calling out did not work. Regardless of what goes down on November 16, Madison Square Garden, it appears that Stipe Miocic’s fighting days may end and it might not depend on the result of the fight.

Final Thoughts

Even though Dana White is forcing the fight of Jon Jones versus Tom Aspinall, it seems very difficult to happen because Jones has already gone through several injuries and Aspinall is a hard opponent. Fighting him will be risking his years of record and he wouldn’t probably want to lose it.

However, Tom Aspinall would suffer a lot if Jones accepted the challenge and stepped into the octagon. What do you think about UFC 309’s main event featuring Jon Jones versus Stipe Miocic? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
