BREAKING: John Cena Announces When He Will Retire From WWE, Final Match in 2025

John Cena has been one of the faces of the WWE for more than two decades. However, at Money in the Bank 2024 on Saturday night, he appeared unannounced and officially made the announcement that he is going to be retiring from the company very soon.

John Cena made the announcement that Wrestlemania 41 in Las Vegas will be his final match and there will be a farewell tour. During his speech, he mentioned that he will be at the following events:

  • WWE RAW moving to Netflix
  • 2025 Royal Rumble
  • 2025 Elimination Chamber

It is not clear which night of Wrestlemania 41 that he will be wrestling or which WWE superstar will be squaring off against him for his final match. He mentioned wanting to have one final WWE run before calling it a career on The Pat McAfee Show in April, when he said:

I’ve speculated a lot about when it is that I hang up the Jorts. It wasn’t last night and I still have a little bit of rubber left on the tires,” he said. “When that time is done, that means it’s gone. I’m actively trying to craft that path right now. I put a line in the sand for myself at 50. I honestly think it’s going to be before that. I’ll be 47 in a few weeks.

Many are calling this the greatest WrestleMania ever. I agree, what a spectacle. That’s because of the talent that actually put the time in. I showed up for 90 seconds. This is the greatest WrestleMania with or without my involvement. That’s because of the now, the superstars we have now and their contributions to the business. It is going to be time for me to go. I’m embracing that, enjoying it, and it allows me to be present.” h/t Fightful

Who should be John Cena’s last WWE match?

John Cena has been one of the greatest of all time in the company and there are a lot of different directions that the company can go with his farewell tour. One match that would make sense would be John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship as John Cena could try to capture his 17th world championship and break the record currently held by “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

There are also a lot of younger talents who can get a massive bump from being in the ring with a legend like Cena as well. His last match was on the April 8th edition of RAW as John Cena and Awesome Truth (R-Truth and The Miz) defeated The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh). His last singles match took place at Crown Jewel 2023 where he lost to Solo Sikoa.
