He needed a win at the Vitality Stadium to retain his job at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag Struggles With Man United’s Campaign
Aston Villa beat Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday to be the fourth club in the Premier League table with 63 points. Man United are seventh with 50 points. So, Villa should lose all their remaining games, and ten Hag’s side to collect 18 points to finish among the top four clubs. This won’t be a piece of cake and it puts Manchester United’s Champions League campaign for next season at risk.
That’s not all, the club might also miss a slot in the Europa League if their next opponents beat them. The Red Devils are in poor form now, as they have only won one of their recent seven EPL games. Still, they haven’t won any of their last four matches.
Man United Analyzes Ten Hag’s Replacements
Sir Jim is likely to fire ten Hag even though he has a low probability of bagging another trophy at Old Trafford. He changed the boardroom in February shortly after acquiring the club’s minority ownership. INEOS Group assessed ten Hag’s likely successors in March.
Manchester United’s performance has worsened since the March international break. They have three draws and one loss. Ten Hag will lose more support if the club loses to Coventry City on April 21st at Wembley. He has been under criticism since the season began with some people questioning his suitability for the managerial role.
Even so, Man United have battled with an injury crisis that has greatly reduced their performance. They haven’t scored many goals in their recent games. Still, the club’s opponents have made 107 shots on target against them in their last four games.
Ten Hag’s Pressure at Man United Increases
Ten Hag has been in the limelight of late due to Manchester United’s dismal performance and uninspiring playing style. Who will replace him once Sir Jim decides to change the dugout? No one can answer that question right now since there isn’t any standout candidate.
Some soccer analysts claim that Roberto De Zerbi and Gareth Southgate are some of the top candidates. The Glazers didn’t struggle to replace Man United’s managers in the past. They promptly appointed Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. Ten Hag had the highest odds of replacing Raf Rangnick. Sir Alex Ferguson recommended David Moyes to the Glazers as his successor, helping them to replace him quickly.
