Jaylen Brown Wins Finals MVP With Amazing Playoff Performance As Boston Celtics Lift Banner 18

Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown

Tonight, June 17, 2024, the Boston Celtics lifted up Banner 18, and Jaylen Brown lifted the Finals MVP Trophy. Boston went on to beat the Dallas Mavericks at home 106-88 to get their championship in game five. Jaylen Brown was a consistent and amazing player during every series. Despite him not leading in scoring, it seemed like Brown had the ability to wake up during the most critical moments for his team.

Jaylen Brown’s Road to the Finals MVP and Banner 18

Jaylen Brown has always been pushed to the background behind his costar, Jayson Tatum. However, this duo has made it clear that they were a unit and that they believed in each other. In the playoffs, Brown proved that he was meant to be on this stage next to Tatum. In the regular season, Brown gave his team 23.0 points per game and led them in steals with 1.2 per game.

In the last playoffs, the team fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. The year before that, their dreams were crushed in the Finals by the Golden State Warriors. It was clear that Jaylen Brown wasn’t going to let that happen again. He was the spark that the Cs needed when they played the Indiana Pacers, hitting a game-tying buzzer-beater and putting up some incredible shots. Brown earned this trophy.

‘I Am Going to War for This City’

In 2016, Jaylen Brown was drafted by the Boston Celtics. That night, he said, “I will go to war for this city.” At the time it seemed like a young rookie being arrogant and on a high from being drafted. However, every single year, Brown proved that he meant it. He went out and worked as hard as he could to improve to the player he is now.

Brown went to war for Boston this playoffs. He averaged 24.1 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, and 3.1 assists per game. He also managed to lower his turnover rate and protect the ball. Brown played with poise and the energy that was needed to get it done. The Energy Shifter was untouchable as he knocked down shots in the midrange and had some big time blocks on the other end. He kept his word to the Boston Celtics fans as the team finally brought home banner 18.

The Jays Can Coexist

Tonight marks the 107th playoff game JB and JT have played in together. 107 games ago, this city wasn’t sure if the Jays would get the job done. Seven years ago they were young players who were questioned every game. No one knew if they could coexist together. They proved everyone wrong. This duo put everything they could into their performance as they finally achieved greatness.

Both of these players are still young. They’ve handled every bit of criticism thrown at them. Brown was sure to shout out Tatum in his Finals MVP speech, saying this trophy would be one he shared with fellow star forward. This Boston Celtics team wouldn’t be where they are without these two. It’s time for Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and the Celtics to celebrate and lift up banner 18.
