Fed Up Jamie Carragher Admits Liverpool has Bottled the 2024 Premier League

“This is the end of the title run for Liverpool.” Jamie Carragher said, after their 2-0 loss against Everton last night. Although the result doesn’t mathematically infer that Liverpool is out of the title race, given that there are still 4 matches to be played.

The disappointing result would come with a baggage of highly demoralizing effects when they look at how consistent and clinical their opposing title contenders have been against teams at the bottom half of the table.

But beyond Liverpool’s lack of consistency and clinicality in recent games, it would feel aggravating to learn they have spent the most days on top of the league this season 87, against their fellow title contenders Manchester City 71 and Arsenal 57. And had once opened a five-point lead on the table.

Some football fans are now even calling them, “title pretenders.” Could this mean that Liverpool is the bottler of the season if they do not win this season’s Premier League title?

Bottlers: Liverpool

Bottling or Bottlers in soccer are mostly associated with teams who have opened a good lead in points, or scores, but due to their complacency, they threw it away and consequently lost the lead.

Arsenal, a club whose name has a healthy relationship with the bottling rhetoric, suffered the same fate last season when they threw away a 5+ point lead to hand the title to Man City. Amongst all the criticism against their apparent “bottling the league,” was Jamie Carragher’s.

The former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, though did not expressly call them bottlers made notice of their complacency last season and criticized them thoroughly for that. According to Carragher:

“This idea that Arsenal have bottled it or haven’t held their nerve, I think it’s completely the opposite. The problem Arsenal have had in the last two weeks is they’ve got complacent, they’ve got cocky.”

Well, since Liverpool is about to capitulate in the Premier League run-in, Carragher has had this to say:   “In terms of wanting it more, it’s Everton’s night,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “It’s not been easy and you have seen their record in derby games so you have to accept that as a Liverpool fan.

“This is the end of the title run for Liverpool. It almost feels like the end. They have to make sure they finish the season strong.

“They had enough chances in the game. At the moment, they are not clinical enough in both boxes.

“I don’t think it’s the time to get too angry with the team and Jurgen Klopp It’s been a great ride, a great journey, but tonight is Everton’s night and you have to take it on the chin.”

Is he giving up already Jamie Carragher? That is weirdly interesting. though it’s justifying he hasn’t spared his team either on their complacency this season. Especially after their loss against Everton, I can’t help but feel an entire tone, much softer than what he used against an underdog Premier League-challenging Arsenal last season.

Jamie Carragher Admits that Liverpool Has Bottled the League?

“This is the end of the end of the title run for Liverpool.” is rather odd. especially for a Liverpool legend such as Jamie Carragher. Is he admitting that they have nothing to play again? or is he admitting that despite topping the table for most of the season, Liverpool has finally bottled the league? well, I believe conceding before with 4 matches to spare answers such a question.

Was Strong-headed Jamie Carragher Going to Lash his Club Without any Approvals?

Of course, conceding and lashing out at his team would be very much unlike him. He went on to assert that Liverpool has not bottled the league, but rather has overachieved beyond their expectations this season. he alluded in a commentary with Sky Sports that:

“Mancity and Arsenal are levels above Liverpool this season. And looking at the kind of players Liverpool currently has, their quality isn’t that good enough to win the Premier League but were rather propelled with the idea of giving Jurgen Klopp a deserving farewell.” Classic Jamie!
