Los Angeles Clippers Point Guard James Harden made history in last night’s home win over the Detroit Pistons. He finished with 50 points and made history in the process. Harden, 35, turned back the clock in the victory. It was not the first time this week though an older player scored 50+ points.
Golden State Warriors Point Guard Stephen Curry, 36, scored 56 points on February 27 on the road against the Orlando Magic. It was the first time in NBA history two different players 35 or older had 50-point games in the same season. Harden, while not the player he once was, is putting together another solid season. He is 26th in the league in points per game and fifth in assists. Will the future Hall of Famer be able to keep up his high level of play as the Clippers try to close out the regular season well?

Even though Harden has struggled in the NBA Playoffs during his illustrious career, he is one of the best regular season players in league history. He is an 11-time NBA All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection, three-time scoring champion, and a former NBA MVP. Harden also averaged a whopping 36.1 points per game during the 2018-19 season. That is the second-most all-time since the 1960s. Only Michael Jordan averaged more(37.1) in a single season over the last six decades.
Final Thoughts
Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers return to the court tomorrow night when they host the New York Knicks. Los Angeles has had a mediocre regular season. They are 33-29 and the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. The Clippers will be in a battle to jump out of NBA Play-In Tournament territory. The star point guard must keep playing well for the team to reach its full potential.
