Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is about what many people have been waiting for, but when it was announced that the fight would not be taking place on July 20th, 2024, concerns began to grow about the fight being canceled.
The fight was postponed because Mike Tyson had some medical issues and could not get cleared to fight by that date. This led to speculation that the fight would eventually be called off as a whole, as fans were already hesitant about the fight being canceled before this announcement.
However, now there is another date announced for the highly anticipated fight, one that will give more time for Mike Tyson to be medically cleared come fight time.
Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Date Change
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are now scheduled to fight on November 15th, 2024. The fight will still occur at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, a venue with a capacity of 80,000 people. The fight is expected to be among the highest-grossing fights of all time and will also be streamed on Netflix for many fans to watch.
This date change was made because Mike Tyson had medical problems regarding an ulcer flareup, which took place on a flight he was taking on May 26th. The fight is scheduled four months in advance now, giving both fighters enough time to train and to be cleared.
This fight will be a professional bout and will go on both Jake’s and Mike’s records. Mike’s last professional fight was in 2005 against Kevin McBride, a fight which he lost.
Jake Paul Backlash
Jake Paul has received backlash throughout his entire boxing career about not fighting “real boxers”. His first two wins came against British YouTubers AnEson Gib and Deji Olatunji. Deji was able to take Jake to five rounds before his cardio ultimately gave out. Jake easily defeated Gib as he was able to knock him down 3 times in the first round, ending the fight quickly.
Jake Paul then went on to fight former athletes who were past their primes, such as Nate Robinson. He transitioned into some higher form of competition when he started fighting former UFC fighters. Even then, It was clear that Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz were all well past their primes, and they were never boxers in the first place.
His one fight against a known and competitive boxer was against Tommy Fury, which is Jake’s only loss on his 9-1 record. He recently began taking a traditional route as he fought and knocked out two pro boxers Ryan Bourland and Andre August.
However, it seems as if Jake is returning to his old ways of fighting old retired men as he steps into a ring with 57-year-old Mike Tyson who hasn’t had a pro fight in nearly 20 years.
