The name Jake Paul needs no introduction. The social media star turned boxer has managed to become one of the most notable names in the sport. While Paul certainly has a long way to go before he can be considered a world-class boxer, his ability to draw eyeballs has helped him put on big events and also earn a lot of money in the process.
The same was reflected in Sportico’s list of 2023’s highest-paid athletes. The list was topped by Cristiano Ronaldo who earned a whopping $275 million last year. Surprisingly, there was just one combat sports athlete who made it to the top 20 and it was Canelo Alvarez. The Mexican ranked 17 on the list with his $66 million earnings in the past year.
Where was Jake Paul ranked in the list of highest-paid athletes of 2023?
Having fought three times in 2023, ‘The Problem Child’ has managed to make it to the list of 2023’s highest-paid athletes. He was ranked at number 37 with his $47 million earnings in 2023. Interestingly, the social media star turned boxer was way ahead of arguably one of the biggest names in boxing, Tyson Fury who ranked 64 after making $40 million last year.

However, this wasn’t the most surprising part. Despite being the most wealthy MMA fighter in history, Conor McGregor did not appear on the list of 2023’s highest-paid athletes. Just two years ago, McGregor was the highest-paid athlete. He collected $180 million from the Proper No. 12 Whisky brand sale in 2021.
When is Jake Paul fighting next?
Jake Paul is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Andre August in December last year. Just months later, ‘The Problem Child’ is set to return to the squared circle, this time against Ryan Bourland in March. Bourland is a 35-year-old boxer who has had a somewhat lengthy amateur career. Fighting out of South Dakota, he is a former Golden Gloves champion and National Junior Olympics competitor. He turned pro in 2013 and with a record of 17-2, Bourland will certainly be of good experience for Jake Paul.
However, ‘The Problem Child’ is expected to get the job done rather comfortably on the night. He will look to further extend his pro-boxing record to 8-1 and pursue his dream of becoming a world champion.
