Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver Brian Thomas Jr. Honored

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was named the Rookie of the Month for December/January. During those six games, he had 45 receptions for 593 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. Thomas faced the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans(twice), New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts to end the regular season.

Thomas Jr. was drafted No. 23 by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU. He was not only one of the best rookie receivers during the regular season, but one of the best receivers in the National Football League. Thomas Jr. was tied for 16th in receptions, third in receiving yards, and tied for sixth in receiving touchdowns. Will the rookie wide receiver be able to build on his stellar rookie season next year?

Jacksonville Jaguars Season Summary

It was a rough season for the Jaguars(4-13) after entering the year with lofty expectations. One of the main issues for the team was the health of star Quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He was limited to 10 games and was not playing well even when he was healthy. Lawrence signed a five-year $275 million contract extension last offseason. With one of the most lucrative contracts in league history, the Jacksonville Jaguars need their franchise quarterback to play better.

Such a poor season led to the team firing Head Coach Doug Pederson earlier this week. Jacksonville has an important offseason coming up, and the first order of business is to hire the correct head coach. The franchise has had a tumultuous two seasons and needs to steady the ship sooner rather than later.

Final Thoughts

Thomas Jr. was one of the lone bright spots from a lost season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville will be drafting No. 5 in this April’s NFL Draft. Regardless of the team’s offseason plans, the Jaguars will look to pair their offseason acquisitions/draft picks with Thomas Jr. for years to come.
