The Jacksonville Jaguars have found a new coach as late Thursday night it was announced they have hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen. After one season as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Liam Coen has accepted an offer to become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars after Doug Pederson was fired following Week 18. The timeline is a bit weird so let’s try to simplify things. Originally, Coen was considered for the opening but he withdrew his name and was going to sign with the Bucs as the highest-paid coordinator in the NFL. Jaguars owner Shad Khan would go on and fire general manager Trent Baalke and on Thursday it was reported that he was not answering any calls or messages from the franchise after not officially signing the contract and engaged in talks with the Jacksonville Jaguars once again. He would wind up secretly going on a flight to Jacksonville and agreed to a deal to become the head coach.

This is going to be Coen’s first time being a head coach as he has climbed up the ranks in college football as well as being part of Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay’s coaching tree as the offensive coordinator in the 2022 season. It will be interesting as it will create a bit of a rivalry between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers going forward. It is also not known if any of the other coaches on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be poached to be part of his new staff in Duval. Now the team is searching for a general manager and Liam Coen has seemingly gained the most power in the organization.

Liam Coen is going to be in charge of getting Trevor Lawrence to the next level as well as helping this roster become threats in the AFC as a whole as they have one of the largest cap spaces this offseason and will need to bolster their roster to win the AFC South next season.
