Recently, he fought against the lightweight division’s beast, Dustin Poirier. They both performed well, but at last, Islam Makhachev maintained his streak and added one more win to his legacy by defeating Dustin Poirier.
Islam Makhachev has a massive influence on UFC and recently he expressed his thoughts about the upcoming fight with Jon Jones. Jon Jones is a heavyweight Champion who is going to be fighting Stipe Miocic. According to Dana White Stipe is the best fighter right now to fight the Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones because he has been a Heavyweight Champion two times. Now he is getting a third chance to fight for the title and be a champion again. However, Islam Makhachev does not agree with that.
Islam Makhachev Opposing the Fight
According to Islam Makhachev, Tom Aspinall should have a chance to compete for the Heavyweight this time. He is one of the greatest fighters in the Heavyweight Division of the UFC. He is always trying to stay humble and respect everyone, and he has continued to do so this time, too. Tom Aspinall has been challenging Jon Jones for a long time, but his challenge hasn’t been accepted yet. As a result, Tom Aspinall has changed the strategy.
And now he is calling Stipe Miocic to step down. Aspinall thinks that Stipe is very old and he shouldn’t be fighting against the Heavyweight Champion. Dana White, on the other hand, thinks that “Bones” should be fighting the former two-time Heavyweight Champion Miocic, and he seems to be a valid fighter. Islam Makhachev, the lightweight Champion of the UFC, doesn’t seem to agree with Dana White.

Recently Islam Makhachev fought Dustin Poirier, which was not an easy fight for Islam but he overcame the situation and continued to be the Champion. The Lightweight Champion knows how much courage, technique, and struggle is needed to maintain the title and be a Champion. So he respects the efforts of Tom Aspinall.
I accept that it was not an easy fight for Aspinall, and it was his great effort that led him to defeat Curtis Blades in the first round and continue to be the Interim Champion. Islam Makhachev watched the fight, and he was impressed by the win of Tom Aspinall and said, “What he did with his last opponent… spent two minutes for two guys… this guy is one of the most dangerous guys in the world right now.”
