Is everything alright between Harry Kane and Bayern Munich? These are possible questions asked, as Bayern’s form continue to deteriorate.
Harry Kane’s Sudden Goal Drought
Bayern Munich are currently in a set of turmoil. going through 3 consecutive defeats and are on a verge of going trophyless this season for the first time in a decade. Despite Harry Kane being the top scorer this season in Bundesliga with 25 goals, aiming to surpass Lewandowksi’s record of 41 goals in a season. Unfortunately his goal rate has reduced drastically since the resumption from winter break. Having a goal drought in 2 consecutive matches and 3 goals in 7 matches before netting on Sunday in a 2:3 loss against Bochum.
Thomas Tuchel is not oblivious of the disconnect in recent games between Harry Kane and his Teammates. Kane is also infuriated , couple with his drop in form. In Tuchel’s statement;
“He’s not happy with the connection in games. Neither are we. I’ve rarely seen such a discrepancy between training and matches.” “The way he scores in training, the way he puts his chances away – it’s incredible. It’s world-class. But then we rarely find him in matches.
Tuchel then acknowledged the leadership of Kane adding that;
“He acts like a captain. Everything’s okay with him.”
Harry Kane’s decline in form was also evident against Bochum which saw him miss two key opportunities of putting Bayern ahead. This leads to some speculations regarding the Kane curse being real. As he’s yet to win a trophy in his career which was why joining Bayern Munich was a good deal.
Tuchel’s Optimism Amidst Drop in Bayern Form
Pressure is gradually mounting on Bayern Munich and with Thomas Tuchel’s job hanging on the brink. They are already out of the German cup and are struggling to keep pace with Bayern-leverkusen now 8 points ahead. Tuchel is still optimistic of positively stirring things around in the Team despite Fans worry.
In his speech ahead of Bochum Clash on Sunday he said;
“It’s a strange situation. The atmosphere is obviously a little gloomy, because we expected a reaction from ourselves. That being said, we’ve only lost the first leg and aren’t out of the Champions League just yet. We’re all committed to turning things around.”
“In my experience, it’s only possible to do so on the training pitch, which is what we did yesterday. We’ll give it our all in order to muster up the energy we need to reverse our fortunes”
He further added;
“We want to prove ourselves, “The situation we find ourselves in at the moment might give us the push we need to kick on again. We’ll keep pushing the players. We treat them all the same individually and within the group. We need every single player.”
Conclusion
As Bayern Munich set to host Lazio in a return leg fixture of their Champions League campaign. Failure to overturn the deficit would be detrimental towards their advancement to quarter-finals, leaving Tuchel under immense pressure. However, failure to also win a trophy this season would be a dent on their decade of successive wins. Despite optimism from the coach, we anticipate a rejuvenated Bayern team turning things around, becoming dominant as they’re known for.
