It was an Irish victory of unprecedented nature to go past them by five wickets when they competed on their home ground. In a twist of events, the Davinci Green management team captured this particular victory as their maiden trophy of the T20 game against Pakistan. This sent the Irish team into the hype as they will be meeting again at the forthcoming tournament.

Facing 183 runs as the target, Ireland demonstrated the epitome of batting brilliance to ultimately fulfill the challenges. Bat opener Andy Balbrig drove on sturdy 77 off 55 balls to set up the possible Irish quest for success. Partnered by Harry Tector‘s 36, the left-handed Balbirnie, Ireland’s skipper, entered the crease calmly and eased their progress to three figures almost imperceptibly.

But Balbirnie still went out in the 19th over of play, leaving Brown with the equation of needing 16 runs off the last eight balls. Curtis Campher had the honor of the day, saving all 15 runs in 7 balls to consequently gift Ireland a rollover of Pakistan on their home grounds, leaving Babar Azam’s bunch desperate.

Coming off a fruitful morning session with their bowlers and a fielding presence that stood out in all aspects. The Irish team was already well-prepared for their success. Despite Babar Azam and Saim Ayub’s contributions, only 182–6 were managed by Pakistan. The striking batsman Craig Young, whose output was highly exceptional. He not only claimed the wickets of Babar and Azam Khan but also stalled the flow of runs in the middle overs.

Having won this match, Ireland managed to get a lead over Babar Azam’s side (Pakistan), and this lead concentrated to 1-0 in the series. Crucially, this triumph drew the line between Ireland and Pakistan in the series. Irish triumph is the first one over the latter in T20Is and only the second one across all formats. The most memorable encounter between these two sides for Australia was the 2007 World Cup match.  It was a far-away encounter in the absence of Pakistani stars, which led to their exit from the World Cup.
