India’s New Tradition: Medal for the Best Fielder Continues in T20 World Cup with a Playful Moment from Kohli

India

India’s T. Dilip has maintained the fielding medal tradition of the team by presenting a medal to the best fielder of the match in the current T20 World Cup, just as it was done in the Cricket World Cup last year. This initiative will help encourage the players to improve their performance in the fielding area, especially when the match becomes critical.

The medal ceremony is now probably one of the most exhilarating aspects of the competition, not to mention the additional recognition within the context of the group itself.

During the Pakistan-India match, which was very thrilling, there was a fun and joyous scene in the medal presentation ceremony. While both the captains were involved in a nail-biting contest earlier in the day, it was up to Coach T. Dilip to announce the nominees for the best fielder reward once again. Virat Kohli had a funny bone to tickle once again.

Kohli was found bowing his head and glancing at Rohit Sharma, who was singing some funny lyrics and then giggling. This act was quite symbolic and not only underlined the unity between the teammates, it also demonstrated that Kohli is a great team player who can make jokes after very tense and serious games.

It was great to see how teamwork and determination were key ingredients to defeat Pakistan. India emerged victorious by the skin of their teeth against the nation’s traditional foes and rivals, despite losing outright halfway through the game.

First, with the bat, India managed to reach a score of 119 for 7 in 19 overs as Rishabh Pant made a valuable contribution of 42 of 31 balls and Axar Patel added a useful 20 of 18 balls. It was because of these two that India could manage a below-par score of 119. Moreover, there was something on the pitch to offer for bowlers and the Indian bowlers came out with flying colors.

Bowling Heroes: Bumrah and Pandya

India

Indian bowlers, especially Bumrah and Pandya, bowled well and got the required breakthrough for their side. It was Bumrah’s score of 3-14 that played a significant role in Pakistan’s failure to chase the target. India’s Pandya, who had been wanton abuse in previous games, came good with good scores and what would prove to be a match-turning spell.

Pakistan’s Struggles

Pakistan’s batting lineup, despite a promising start where they did not lose a wicket in the first four overs, struggled to adapt to the tricky New York pitch that favored bowlers. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 31 off 44 balls, but the rest of the batting order failed to build on the early momentum. The pressure of the chase and India’s disciplined bowling attack ultimately proved too much for Pakistan. Since then, the team in Green has been receiving flak for disappointing their fans and ex-cricketers.
