The NBA 2K25 Summer League keeps getting exciting as the Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves commence their second game at Cox Pavilion on July 14.
The Indiana Pacers are coming off a competitive loss against the Brooklyn Nets (95-97) OT. Therefore the Pacers would like to shake things up in their next match. The Pacers 2024 second-round overall rookies summed up an average performance. While Jarace Walker, the franchise’s 2023 8th overall pick, led the team and outperformed his teammates. However, it wasn’t enough as the Nets came back from a 15-point deficit to win in overtime.
The Minnesota Timberwolves won their debut match against the New Orleans Pelicans with a seven-point margin (81-74). However, the battle is just starting as the Pacers would desire to pin the Wolves down in this second game. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ future looks bright as the franchise’s rookies showed up against the Pelicans. The Wolves fans would be excited to see the club pair one of these 2024 rookies with Anthony Edwards.

Summer League Team Preview
Indiana Pacers
All the Pacers 2024 second-round overall picks included Johnny Furphy (35th), Tristen Newton (49th), and Enrique Freeman (50th). Furphy was on the starting five line. He got 12 points, four defensive rebounds, and a steal while shooting 36% in the field (4-of-11), and 38% of three-pointers (3-of-8). Newton had nothing to show coming off from the bench while Freeman came off the bench for 17 minutes and got seven points, five rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and an assist going 3-of-4 in field goals. So far, Freeman could bring more tables if given more minutes. Also, Furphy needs to improve his game.
Ben Sheppard played for 35 minutes and got four points, three steals, and two assists making 1-of-9 field goal attempts. Sheppard was part of the Pacers’ 2023 first-round pick, however, it’d seem the Pacers guard needs more improvement. Now, Jarace Walker’s impressive performance wasn’t enough for the Pacers to clinch their debut win. Walker got 25 points, six rebounds, two steals, and a block, shooting 50% from the field (9-18) and 88% from the charity stripes (7-8).
Minnesota Timberwolves
Terrence Shannon Jr. gives the Wolves franchise hope for a better future as he could be Anthony Edward’s co-star. The 2024 27th overall draft pick could replicate his five seasons of college basketball to lead the Wolves team to victory. Shannon Jr. got 25 points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal. His ability to draw fouls that put his team on top was critical, as he made 75% of his free throw attempts (6-of-8). The Wolves guard sprinkled some offensive play into his overall performance as he made 64% of his field goal attempts (9-of-14).
Rob Dillingham didn’t blossom in his debut match. The 6’ 1 point guard got four points, five assists, and five rebounds, making 2-of-12 field goal attempts and 0-of-5 three-pointers with one steal and one block. The 2024 8th overall pick needs to get his footing and step up his game. Also, Leonard Miller got 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals in 16 minutes of performance. If given more time, Miller could offer more to the team against the Pacers.
Possible Breakout Player of the Game

Kendall Brown came off the bench for 27 minutes of display. With this time the Pacers guard got 19 points, two blocks, two boards with one steal, and an assist. The 21-year-old guard also played two seasons in the G League where he averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 50% in field goals in 32 games. Brown helped the Pacers stay competitive against the Nets and could make this second game exciting to watch.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Nadir Hifi is a player to watch as he made an impact with little time coming from the bench. In 14 minutes, the French-Algerian got 11 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals, making 45% of his field goal attempts (4-of-11). Hifi played in the Paris Basketball League where he averaged 46.6% in field goals, 36.9% in three-point shooting, and 13.9 points in 112 games. Thus his offensive competence should be a sight of attraction in this second summer league game.
