The Indiana Pacers had an offensive game for the ages Thursday night on the road against the Washington Wizards. Coming off a debilitating loss last night where LeBron James scored a tip-in as time expired, they had little time to get off the mat and respond. The Pacers countered by scoring a franchise-record 162 points. It was the most points scored in an NBA game this season.
Indiana came out of the gates firing on all cylinders offensively. They never looked back. The Indiana Pacers shot a whopping 64.1% from the field and 57.4% from three-point range. An offensive explosion helped Indiana prevail 162-109. Everyone got in on the action with seven players scoring in double figures for the Pacers. Point Guard Tyrese Haliburton led the way with 29 points. Will a great night on offense be a sign of things to come for the Indiana Pacers?
Indiana Pacers Season Summary
Coming off a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, Indiana has been strong in the Eastern Conference again this year. They are the No. 4 seed in the conference with a 43-30 record. As was the case against the Washington Wizards, Indiana’s offense has been their strength. They are eighth in points scored, third in field goal percentage, and eighth in three-point percentage.
Indiana’s offense has been mediocre this year. They are 17th in points allowed, 26th in opposing field goal percentage, and 11th in opposing three-point percentage. Even though the Indiana Pacers do not seem as formidable as they were last year, the team is still one of the better squads in the Eastern Conference.
Final Thoughts
The Pacers return to the court Saturday on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This game against the league’s best team will be a measuring stick for the Indiana Pacers with fewer than 10 games remaining in the regular season. Indiana’s offense will look to continue carrying the team as they seek another deep playoff run.
