Indiana Hoosiers Get Best Player in ’24 Portal

Indiana Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers have made another splash in the transfer portal.

Former Arizona Wildcats center Oumar Ballo announced today that he would be taking his talents to Bloomington, Indiana to join the Hoosiers. Ballo has been rated as the top-ranked player in the portal this offseason.

Ballo joins the 17th-ranked transfer Myles Rice to join Indiana through the portal this year.

A Huge Addition for the Indiana Hoosiers

Landing Oumar Ballo is a massive win for Indiana. Ballo was at Arizona for the last 3 years and averaged 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds while making All-Pac 12 First Team last season. He was one of the big reasons for Arizona’s recent success. Ballo was very reliable for the Wildcats and started every game the last two seasons.

Ballo is going to be the next big man leading the way for the Hoosiers, after Kel’el Ware had a big season last year, and Trayce Jackson-Davis the year prior.

Things are looking up for Indiana after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, where they failed to make the NCAA tournament.

Strong Offseason So Far

Transfer, guard Myles Rice. averaged 14.8 points a game last year for Washington State.

Also, Indiana landed 5-star freshman recruit Bryson Tucker. Tucker is a 6 foot 6, small forward out of Bowie, Maryland, and should be able to contribute right away.

Some Indiana fans were feeling the need to move away from head coach Mike Woodson a few months ago, but this offseason thus far has quieted a lot of the doubters. It will be interesting to see how the new look Big Ten plays out with the additions of USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington.

If the Indiana Hoosiers keep killing the portal as they have, there is no reason to think that they can’t compete for a Big Ten title next season.
