India Women’s Team Breaks Huge Record After Thumping Win Over UAE

UAE Women Cricket Team

India scored 201 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Harmanpreet making 66 and Ghosh remaining not out with 64 runs. While Egodage took 2 wickets for 36 runs. UAE managed 123 runs for 7 wickets, with Egodage scoring 40 and Oza 36, as Deepti picked up two wickets for 23 runs. India won the match by 78 runs. This victory has made India very strong, stronger than ever for a semi-final spot. The middle-order batsmen got valuable time at the crease, and the bowlers had a productive outing.

Harmanpreet Kaur performed like a Champion and was India’s highest scorer with 66 runs, but it was Richa Ghosh’s great performance, scoring an unbeaten 64 runs off just 29 balls, that pushed India to their first-ever 200-plus score in T20Is.

UAE Having a Chance Because of Pakistan

Even with this defeat, UAE still has a chance to make it to the semi-finals. If Pakistan wins against Nepal in the evening game, UAE’s hopes stay alive. The UAE team was completely dominated by the India Team. Putting that aside their captain, Esha Oza, and Kavisha Egodage played well, scoring 36 and an unbeaten 40 runs respectively. Scoring more than the 115 for 8 they managed against Nepal, should boost their confidence.

India batted first and seemed happy with that decision. The team’s powerful openers, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, were a looming threat, known for their ability to score quickly. However, with the score at 52 for 3 during the powerplay, UAE had a real chance to take control.

Hemalatha’s Great Performance

D Hemalatha was one of the early dismissals. She likely felt particularly frustrated. Despite several opportunities to secure the No. 3 spot since the Bangladesh tour, her highest score remains the unbeaten 41 she achieved in her first innings in that position.

In the match against Pakistan two nights ago, she was out for 14 and made a perfect shot during a comfortable chase after the openers had scored 85 runs in just 9.3 overs. In this game, the openers got off to a quick start, reaching fifty runs within five overs. However, Hemalatha’s dismissal for two, bowled while attempting a pull shot off Heena Hotchandani, caused a brief setback for India.

With Hemalatha batting at No. 3, India had to adjust Jemimah Rodrigues’ position in the lineup. Rodrigues, known for her skillful play, might return to the original spot if Hemalatha’s struggles continue, given the strong hitting power India has in the lower order.

Oza’s Great Performance Against India

On Sunday, Rodrigues scored 14 runs while partnering with Harmanpreet in a 54-run partnership. However, she was dismissed when she attempted her first big shot and was caught at mid-off. Oza played steadily without any flashy shots, but she did show her ability to accelerate by hitting Deepti Sharma for a six. She got some support from Kavisha Egodage, and together they added 40 runs. However, Oza was dismissed, becoming Tanuja Kanwar’s first international wicket.

Kanwar, who performed well and proved herself to the team, the country, and everyone else, with a strong performance in the WPL for Gujarat Giants, deceived Oza with a well-flighted delivery that resulted in her being stumped. Kanwar ended her match with impressive figures of 4-0-14-1, a great achievement from just 48 hours earlier.
