Los Angeles Dodgers Catcher With Incredible 4 Consecutive HR Performance

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff continues to impress this season.

One of the best catchers in Major League Baseball continues to get better and make a strong impact on his team. Will Smith of the Los Angeles Dodgers has had not only an incredible season but an unbelievable last few games.

The All-Star catcher has been producing at the plate in clutch ways for the Dodgers, leading them to victory over their opponents. As he comes off of two remarkable games, Smith joins highly esteemed Dodger greats in the record books.

As the 2024 All-Star game fast approaches, Smith is making a case to be a part of the festivities for the second year in a row. Will he continue to heat up heading into the All-Star break?

Smith’s Last Two Games

Friday Night the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Milwaukee Brewers in the first game of a three-game set. Los Angeles got on the board in the first inning with a home run from Smith. The scoring stopped there until Smith reached the plate in the third inning. With the score still at 1-0, he launched his second homer of the night.

With a strong lead heading into the fourth, Tyler Glasnow took the mound again. After getting nine up and nine down, Glasnow lost control after allowing an infield hit. One grand slam later, the Brewers took the lead. As the Dodgers chipped away, they trailed by one. The bottom of the seventh inning came, putting the Brewers’ biggest threat back up to the plate.

After going 2-of-2 with a walk and two home runs, Smith did the unbelievable. On the first pitch of his at-bat, he launched his third home run of the night off of the left field foul pole, tying the game and putting the Los Angeles Dodgers right back in it.

The Dodgers rallied in the eighth inning and took the lead 8-5. Smith became the fourth Dodger catcher to have a three-home run game, following suit with Roy Campanella, Mike Piazza, and Yasmani Grandal.

The excitement did not stop there. Following his three-home run night, Smith did it again. On Saturday during his first at-bat of the day, he smoked another homer to deep right field. In four consecutive at-bats, Smith hit four home runs, making a strong case to be on the 2024 All-Star roster.

Smith has been a Los Angeles Dodger for the entirety of his career, starting in 2019. Throughout that time, he has solidified his position as the Dodgers’ everyday catcher. His numbers have been consistent and impactful for the team. His career batting average is sitting at .263.

In 2024, Smith is batting .275 with an OPS of .854, some of the best numbers of his career. In his last four games, he is batting .375. He is a growing threat to each pitcher he faces. His previous months have not been as good in comparison. In both May and June, he batted just over .200.

Los Angeles is looking forward to seeing Smith in Dodger Blue for most likely the remainder of his career. In this past offseason, the Dodgers signed him to a 10-year, 140-million-dollar deal. As a catcher who has proven his capabilities, they hope this elite catcher will continue to produce in an incredible way moving forward.

Dodgers Moving Forward

The Dodgers remain at the top of the National League West division with a great lead. They are currently 55-35 on the year, leaps and bounds ahead of their divisional competition.

The Dodgers are looking to complete the sweep of the Brewers Sunday afternoon with the help of Smith behind the plate. As they approach the mid-summer classic, Los Angeles hopes to ride the momentum of Smith and the rest of the team to more big wins leading up to the break.
