‘I Always Win in My 2nd Year’ Ange Postecoglu reminds the Fans

Ange Postecoglu

Ange Postecoglu revealed how he felt about their narrow loss to their London rivals. Tottenham had lost 1 nil to Mikel Arteta’s side, thanks to a brilliant header from Gabriel through a fine Bukayo Saka corner. After the Goal Spurs tried so hard to find the equalizer however they lacked the clinical edge.

In the end, the Gunners took away the crucial three points. Ange Postecoglu was disappointed with his team’s performance, however, he spoke in belief, that his team will bounce back. Football Pundits, like Paul Merson, were solely disappointed in the Spurs loss. There were strong Criticisms laid at both the team and Ange Postecoglu, hoping they can improve in their next games, and become a better team.

Ange Postecoglu had a little match assessment of the game. The Spurs Manager believes his team will bounce back and win, trophies this season. He said: “I’ll correct myself: I don’t usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing has changed, I don’t say things I don’t believe in.”

Paul Merson had his replies over the manager’s comments. He was a bit blunt referring to the fact that Spurs may not win any trophy this season. He praised their ability to play good football but criticized their ability to get the necessary three points in a game. He said: “I like Ange, I like him. But I’ve got more chance of winning Strictly [than Ange winning something in his second season]! If they get the top four, that would be amazing. They will need Solanke to get 20 goals, and you only get 20 goals if the crossing improves. If that doesn’t improve, you could put Haaland up there and he wouldn’t get 20.”

Merson on Spurs’ Crosses

Paul Merson criticized Spurs crossing while pointing out the fact that last season they were better. Which implied they had not improved this season. He also pointed out that some key players needed to step in. James Madison was a number 1 example.

He added: “I don’t think it’s better than last season to watch. Last season was better than this season. They were mind-blowing. As a neutral, I do like watching Tottenham, I like Ange, they play entertaining football – but some of the big players need to step up.”

Paul Merson on Maddison

Merson talked about how out of form the Englishman has been. Maddison was incredible at the beginning of last season till his injury. However, the Spurs’ midfielder has seemed to lose his rhythm after the injury. And till now, he is still struggling to find his feat.

Merson said: “James Maddison wasn’t great on Sunday, he has got to step up. He’s got to be better. He’s playing in a position where you’ve got to make things happen. I don’t personally think he did that on Sunday and looking at who he was playing up against, he has to be better. I’m not digging him out because I’m a huge fan of his, but I’ve played that position and know that he needs to do better.”
