The Serie A season may have already come to a close, but that doesn’t mean the teams are in their off-season quite yet. Two of the biggest names in the entire league face off head-to-head once more at the Optus Stadium this weekend in Perth, Australia.

Roma and AC Milan take the field once again to see who can withstand the jet lag, travel time, and new crowds to earn a well-deserved post-season win after a long Serie A domestic league season in Italy.

Serie A Match Preview

De Rossi was a disappointed coach as his team, AS Roma, lost against Empoli, ending their final 2023-2024 campaign with zero points. His team didn’t listen to his tactics as instructed in the pre-game and half-time talks, conceding during a quick counterattack in a close 2-1 loss this past weekend. Unfortunately for De Rossi and his team, they seemed to flounder during the last few months of the season, dropping points and ending on a low note in the Serie A league

Instead of picking up steam as the season progressed as other teams did, it appeared as though his squad may have lost fitness, confidence, and drive to do better in the league. The Giallorossa lost two out of their last three games in the season, with Atalanta beating them in the final matches of the year to earn the coveted final Champions League spot

With this upcoming friendly in Perth, De Rossi and his squad will hope to put Serie A’s disappointment and bitter feelings behind them in Italy and look towards brighter futures in Australia. A post-season win would do wonders for his squad’s vibe and attitudes moving forward into the off-season and next season.

On the other hand, Milan is going to Australia without their man in charge – Stefano Pioli. Pioli was sacked from being the gaffer of the club, but the board has yet to make a statement regarding the matter, meaning the team departs for Australia on the plane without a head coach in charge.

Daniele Bonera is the new leader for the weekend, ensuring the team are all on the same page and know their roles going into the post-season friendly.

In their last few matches of the season, AC Milan also underperformed. They won only one out of their last six games in Serie A, losing two and drawing the other three. A lack of goals and poor team cohesion could be a reason for their drop in form at the end of the season.

AC Milan will be looking towards Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, and Yunus Musah to lead the team to victory after a long few days of travel. Hopefully, AC Milan can recover from a disappointing final few weeks of Serie A and go into their off-season on a positive note.

Tune in to watch this riveting game on Optus Sport in Australia to see which of the two teams can crown themselves as the post-season Serie A winners in Perth, Australia. Our best guess? We think Milan will come out on top.
