Houston Texans

Houston Texans Wide Receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending injury during the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16. Tank Dell was catching a pass in the end zone that resulted in him getting carted off the field. Following the weekend, Ian Rapport reported Monday from Houston that Head Coach DeMeco Ryan said Tank Dell suffered a dislocated knee cap, torn ACL, and other damage. He will undergo season-ending surgery.

Former NFL Doctor David J. Chao also provided information on the severity of the injury sayingKnee dislocation confirmation (much worse prognosis than kneecap/patella dislocation) means multiple ligaments torn and the long road to recovery. It is extremely unfortunate news for Dell and the Texans, as the wide receiver has dealt with a slew of injuries since his arrival in the NFL. Coming into the game, Dell had 45 catches for 569 yards, two touchdowns, and 12.6 yards per catch in his second year as the Texans wide receiver.

Last season, Dell finished his rookie campaign with 47 catches for 709 yards, seven touchdowns, and 15.9 yards per catch. Tank Dell also suffered a season-ending injury last season with a fractured fibula in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Also, in the offseason, he suffered minor injuries in an April shooting. It has been a rough year for Dell. Not only not being able to finish both NFL seasons that he has played in but also being involved in a shooting in the offseason.

The Houston Texans are 9-6 on the season and are the No. 4 seed in the AFC Playoffs. This is the lowest seed they can fall to as the winner of the AFC South. The Chiefs are still the No. 1 seed in the AFC following Saturday’s victory. The Texans can reach the No. 3 seed and overtake either the Baltimore Ravens or Pittsburgh Steelers for that spot.

Final Thoughts

As the NFL season is coming to an end, the Houston Texans will be without their star Wide Receiver Tank Dell. It will be a long road to recovery for Dell and there is no timeline for his return. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was heartbroken in the postgame interview It’s not easy seeing your brother go down like that,Stroud said.I’m just tore up.”

Tank Dell was not the only wide receiver that afternoon that went down to a lower leg injury as Guard Shaq Mason suffered a knee injury in the first quarter and Safety Jimmie Ward was carted off the field with a foot injury. Hopefully, the Houston Texans can make a quick recovery and have a game plan for the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.
