The Houston Texans signed Cornerback Ronald Darby to a one-year $2.5 million contract Monday afternoon. He is coming off a mediocre regular season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Darby had 46 tackles and 9 passed defended.
He has 447 career tackles, 8 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble. Darby’s career began with the Buffalo Bills and included stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and Jacksonville Jaguars. Will he be able to get back on track with the Houston Texans in 2025?
Houston Texans Offseason Outlook
Darby joins a Texans defense that has been overhauled this offseason. They signed Defensive Tackle Sheldon Rankins and Defensive Tackle Mario Edwards. Houston also signed Cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. to a historic contract extension and acquired Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Houston also gutted its offensive line this season. They traded Offensive Tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. They also acquired Wide Receiver Christian Kirk and signed Wide Receiver Braxton Berrios. The Texans have done a solid job upgrading their roster following back-to-back losses in the AFC Divisional Round.
Final Thoughts
Darby is a solid signing for the franchise. The team has made a concerted effort to bolster their defense. With Quarterback C.J. Stroud on his rookie deal, he is being surrounded by a host of veteran players.
