Houston Texans: Potential Receivers To Grab Before the Trade Deadline

The Houston Texans have a day left to improve their wide receiver room.

The Houston Texans are in recovery mode as they just got the news that star Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs won’t return this season. The team will be getting Nico Collins back this week, but they may still want to consider getting some additional wide receiver talent. After all, the Ravens, Jets, Bills, and Chiefs all made big receiver acquisitions over the past week. The Houston Texans might be next to make a move.

Mike Williams

While the glory days for Mike Williams are behind him, he still can catch and run. A trade for Williams would make sense for both organizations. The Houston Texans would fill their gap at receiver, and the Jets have other pass catchers that can get more playing time. Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson would be the primary receivers with Allen Lazard coming after he gets healthy. The Jets can afford to lose Williams, whereas the Houston Texans would greatly appreciate him.

Tyler Boyd

Sometimes it seems like the Titans are a team that doesn’t know they should start rebuilding. They got the hint by sending off DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City. Tennessee could be selling off several pieces going forward, and the Houston Texans could pick up Tyler Boyd for as little as a second or third round pick. Tyler Boyd did play second fiddle to A.J. Green from many years in Cincinnati, a role he can fill again by supporting Nico Collins if this trade goes through.

Adam Thielen

The Panthers are in a similar situation to the Titans in that they need to rebuild and might be selling off parts. Carolina recently got rid of Diontae Johnson, sending him to Baltimore. Since they have bigger questions to answer, like who is playing quarterback next season, Adam Thielen’s services might no longer be required. He would be utilized a lot in a Houston Texans offense that’s trying to make a playoff push.

Gabe Davis

Davis simply isn’t utilized the same way he was in Buffalo as he is in Jacksonville. He has only two targets in the past two weeks, and the emergence of Brain Thomas Jr. means Davis will fade further down the depth chart. If he is traded to the Houston Texans, Davis would be pushed into a starting role where he would see the ball much more. Stefon Diggs would likely vouch for Davis as well since Davis shined as his teammate on the Bills for years.

Jakobi Meyers

Trading away Adams is just about as good as a white flag for the Las Vegas Raiders this season. With that being the case, they might be better off stacking draft picks while sending Meyers off to the Houston Texans where he can play a similar role to what he did when he was on the Raiders with Adams. If Collins returns to see many double teams, Meyers can spring free of the defense and make some clutch catches.

Conclusion

The Houston Texans have a difficult game coming up as they welcome the Detroit Lions to town on Sunday Night Football. Texans General Manager Nick Caserio has a little less than 24 hours to make a move to help solidify their injury-plagued receiver room.
