After a shocking win over the Duke Blue Devils, Houston’s path to its first National Championship gets no easier. The Cougars will face fellow No. 1 seed Florida Gators in the title game. They secured a comeback win of their own against the Auburn Tigers to advance to Monday’s game.
As the Houston Cougars have done all season, and last night against Duke, they will be led by their defense. The Cougars are the best defensive team in the nation. They are the leader in points allowed and opposing field goal percentage. Houston held Duke to two field goals in the final 13 minutes of their game. Florida’s offense is just as formidable as Duke’s. If the Houston Cougars want to win a title, its defense will tested more than ever before.

Head Coach Kelvin Sampson is playing in the championship game for the first time in his illustrious career. He has been one of the best coaches in the game for decades. The only glaring hole in his resume is a championship. If the Houston Cougars were to fall behind at halftime, they would have the Florida Gators right where they want them.
