Houston Astros Superstar On Wonderful Streak During 2024 Season

Houston Astros, Alex Bregman

Houston Astros Third Baseman Alex Bregman continues to swing one of the hottest bats in Major League Baseball. He had a two-run home run as the Astros lost 4-3 to the Minnesota Twins at home on Sunday afternoon. Bregman has homered four times over his last six games. His hot streak began last Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners when he hit a two-run home run. He also went yard in back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday of last week against the Mariners and Minnesota Twins.

Bregman has gone 11-of-24 with four home runs and seven RBI over his last six games. Unfortunately for the Houston Astros and Bregman, this hot streak has not translated to wins on the diamond. Houston is 2-4 over their last six games. It has been a rough 2024 season for Bregman who is hitting .229 this season with eight home runs and 29 RBI.

How long will Bregman be able to keep up his hot streak?

Alex Bregman Career Summary

Bregman made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Houston Astros and has spent the entirety of his career in the “Lone Star State.” Bregman has been one of the best players in the league ever since he made his debut. Houston Astros Season Summary

It has been a disappointing season for the Astros(26-34) in 2024. First-year Manager Joe Espada has failed to replicate the success of all-time great skipper Dusty Baker. Baker retired from managing in October of 2023. Houston is third in the American League West looking up at both the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners in the standings.

The issues for the Astros this season have not been their offense as that part of their team is near the top of the league in a variety of metrics. Houston’s offense is third in batting average, 12th in runs scored, and fourth in home runs.

Their offense is led by Shortstop Jeremy Pena and Right Fielder Kyle Tucker. Pena is 16th in the league with a batting average of .296. Tucker is tied for second in the league with 19 home runs, 13th in RBI, and fifth in OPS.

The main culprit for such a poor regular season thus far for the Houston Astros has been their pitching staff. They are 22nd in ERA, have surrendered the eighth-most home runs, and are 17th in opposing batting average. Their pitching staff is led by Ronel Blanco. He is 5-1 this season with an ERA of 2.44.

Astros Upcoming Schedule

The Astros begin a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals tonight. Houston then heads on the road for a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels beginning on Friday.

Houston has many big names on the roster but has not been able to put it all together this season. With nearly 40% of the regular season done, the Astros must get things on the right track sooner rather than later. The Houston Astros are looking to make the MLB Playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.
