Haris Rauf came back to international cricket in the most-awaited matchup on Saturday, May 25th, of T20IS Pakistan vs. England match no. 2, held at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Sometimes the fast bowling express bowler who had set the field on fire with his pace and hostile tone was missing from the international scene for awhile. The fans were always waiting for him to comeback.
However, it can be noted that his progress in bringing about the comeback may not have been as smooth as he probably expected.
In his first over back in the international T20s, Rauf bowling to Buttler took a battering, conceeding 17 runs.

To reply hat trick to Haris Rauf was Will Jacks, now emerging as a potential match-winner. Who had earlier starred for the RCB franchise in the IPL 2024 season. As we saw, Jacks was not to be trifled with and immediately began to pressurize Haris Rauf on the attack. When its back was against the wall, deciding to hit, the 33-year-old opened up a new chapter of his batting when he saw a chance on just the second ball of Rauf’s opening over.
It was right in the slot, as they say, an invitation that was impossible for Hazleton to turn down. Jacks got under the ball well and hit it over mid-on. For a six, he then posed reminiscent of a statue of liberty.

It was therefore clear that Jacks had been motivated by one of the leading cricketers of the present era—Virat Kohli, his fellow RCB player. Daring bowlers of attack, Kohli has been dubbed the master at humbling world-class bowlers, and it looked like some of that confidence and form had transferred to Will Jacks. This particular shot was very Kohli-like, and even though it came from a young batter , the power and precision showed Kohli’s impact on his playing style.
Even in this first, Haris Rauf proved his mettle, which has put him in a position of significance in the Pakistan cricket team. He was prominent, receiving an out-of-form Lewis Goldsworthy out in the closure of the match, but later on took the greatest wicket of Will Jacks.
Jacks had been looking very charged up during his innings but appeared to be quite dominating as he wielded the bat and plundered 37 runs off 23 balls before being bowled by Haris Rauf. This dismissal came for Pakistan at a point when they had lost Phil Salt earlier and needed the opportunity to rebuild.

England’s Progress in the Match
The two, Jacks and Salt, eventually got into the groove as England consolidated on the performance that their two players put up. During the time of writing, England was quite comfortable with 118/2 after 13 overs. 2 overs. Riding on their potential and today’s match performance. Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow were ready to take England’s score even higher.
Buttler was looking very lively and had the free will of a batsman who had just scored 64* off 38 balls, proving himself as the aggressive and talented he is. Conversely, Bairstow was tottering at the crease a bit on his return, taking 10 balls to get 4 runs.
