Pakistani ex-cricketer Kamran Akmal has tendered his apology to Harbhajan Singh for the racist comments for which he targeted Arshdeep Singh and the Sikh community during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan. This animated conversation was held after the World Championship of Legends battle between the India Champions and Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on July 6.
He said regretfully:
I made a mistake on the only topic that was being discussed. It was never my intention, and I can never think negatively about anybody’s religion. That should be done because I am younger; they are seniors and a great off-spinner of India and world cricket. Kamran spoke to Paktv
Harbhajan Singh Says Sorry to Babar for the Offense

In a recent episode of Star Sports’ Caught & Bold, Kamran Akmal lashed out at Pakistan captain Babar Azam, and there was controversy regarding the same. The selected show features the hosts of the show, Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth, who were given a question about choosing Brian Lara or Babar Azam and started a hilarious and mocking conversation wherein Sreesanth directly mocked Babar.
Kamran Akmal said in an interview that later Harbhanean said sorry to him and stated that he should not have mocked Babar in that way. Further, this case gives an insight into the fact that rivalries in cricket get tangy, and sometimes innocent barbs cross the line and have the potential to create a long-lasting image of the specific player.
Akmal, who is not new to controversy, provided a reality check, particularly to the youth, urging them to refrain from sacrificing respect and healthy day-to-day rivalry, especially when it comes to discussing other highly regarded cricketers such as Babar Azam.
We discussed Babar being teased. Babar is a big hitter in Pakistan cricket; he boasts more hundreds for Pakistan than anybody else has. There are more than a hundred more than Brian Lara, but their class should not be compared. As cricketers, we should not mimic anybody’s weakness, and neither Harbhajan nor I should do it.
Pakistan Champions’ Big Victory
Kamran Akmal was the man of the match in the given match. Following the tossing victory by the India Champions’ captain, Harbhajan Singh, Kamran and his opening associate, Sharjeel Khan, went on the assault by scoring 145 runs for the first wicket in 6. 5 overs. Kamran started well, getting 77 runs from 40 balls and power-play with nine fours and four sixes.
Sharjeel Khan and Sohaib Maqsood increased the additional half-century of Pakistan champions, which, taking advantage of it, posted a powerful score of 243/4.
During the match between India Champions and Pakistan Champions, Harbhajan Singh’s performance was under scrutiny. Despite bowling two overs without taking any wickets, he conceded 27 runs, which contributed to India Champions’ challenges in restricting Pakistan Champions. Later, when it was his turn to bat, Harbhajan Singh faced Wahab Riaz and was dismissed leg-before-wicket (LBW) after scoring just 1 run.
India Champions’ overall batting struggled as they managed to post only 175/9 in their allotted overs. This total fell short against Pakistan Champions, who had performed significantly better, driven by strong contributions from their top order. Kamran Akmal and his opening partner Sharjeel Khan set the tone with a formidable 145-run partnership in just 65 balls, laying a solid foundation for their team.
This substantial lead of 68 runs eventually led the Pakistan Champions to a convincing victory over India Champions in the match.
