Barcelona hosted Getafe in the La Liga‘s seventh Gameweek. The Catalans went into the game with some key players in the name of Dani Olmo, De Jong, Fermin Lopez, and Gavi who are all on the road to recovery. However, Hansi Flick still had some maestros on the pitch. From the likes of Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Raphina, and Lewandoski. Barca going against Getafe has always been a struggle for the Catalans, as the Spanish are known for their aggressive low block.

Moreover, Lewandoski was able to secure an early lead thanks to a deflected cross from Kounde. Yamal saw Kounde’s overlapping run, allowing him to feed the Frenchman, who in return swept in a beautiful cross parried by the keeper. However, the rebound fell onto the clinical Polish striker Lewandoski who gave Barca the only lead. All through the game the Catalans tried to find a more, but they were held back by the Getafe’s aggressive defense.

Hansi Flick View After the Game

The German was pleased with his team’s display however, he believes there’s still more work to be done and the team is a work in progress. Flick said: “To get seven wins is perfect, but we have to do some things better. Today we have a very good mentality. For me it’s a good starting point to improve, I’ve been told that it’s always like that against Getafe, they are very good in defense, but I’m very proud of my players and how they fought for 95 minutes.”

Flick also praised Inaki Pena, after taking the role of injured Ter Stegen. He said: “I only speak of the players we have in the team. Inaki Pena is our No 1 goalkeeper and I’m happy. This is what it’s worth, We have Inaki Pena who is 25-year-old but the rest of the goalkeepers are very young, so if something happens we have to have experience.”

Kounde’s Words After the Game

Kounde also praised his teammates for their solid performance and display. He said: “When you dominate a game but go only one goal ahead, the opponent sees a possibility of making a run for a better result, and often that leads them to push you harder in the last minutes,”

He further added: “But we played a good, controlled game and we could have scored more goals. Sometimes it happens, you can’t always win with a big goal difference. Getafe are always a difficult team to handle. It may have cost us more than usual, but we had the chance to win the game more comfortably.”
