Haason Reddick Accused Of Intimidation And Not Paying Business Partner

Philadelphia Eagles Haason Reddick

Haason Reddick has had one of the strangest offseasons in recent memory. After being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Jets, he held out waiting for a new contract. The Jets declined to give him one and he has yet to even report the team facility. Things got a little stranger on Saturday when it was revealed the pass rusher is facing a lawsuit. He is facing accusations of not paying his business partner and sending people to intimidate him.

Haason Reddick Faces Accusations

Abraham Gutman of the Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report on the situation. Haason Reddick‘s business partner, Micah Khan, alleges he is owed $1.6 million for the sale of Haven Home Health Agency, a senior care company. Back in 2021, Reddick hired Khan to run the business while he focused on football. The company turned a profit and was sold for around $3.25 million. The lack of payment isn’t the only reason Reddick is in hot water. Khan alleges he was intimidated by hired security brought by Reddick’s father, Raymond Matthews.

“Mr. Matthews brought over more than a dozen black-gloved men to a business meeting, claiming they were ‘Haason’s personal security,'” Khan said in court papers. “It was at this post-sale meeting that Mr. Matthews made it clear [they] intended to breach their payment obligations to Kingdom.”

These are serious accusations for Haason Reddick. He wants to return to the football field, and this isn’t helping him rebuild his image. Given his contract situation, he is already viewed as a difficult player, and now he faces legal trouble. It is unclear if the NFL will intervene in this situation, as they often do when a player faces legal trouble. Reddick and his camp have yet to make a statement on the situation.

Career At Risk

Haason Reddick is headed toward never playing in the NFL again. This week, Creative Artists Agency dropped him as a client, which caused him to lose his agent. The Jets reportedly are open to bringing him in, but Reddick seems adamant that his contract demands are met. At some point, the team will have to move on, leaving him in a strange place in the NFL. We’ve seen more and more players hold out with hopes of landing a huge contract. We’re starting to see it doesn’t always work.

Both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins held out for a while but ended up deciding to play without a new deal. The San Francisco 49ers had their own holdout issues, though they ended in new contracts for the players, albeit very close to the season. Teams are not so quick to give in. This will continue to be a situation to watch as it unfolds. If we don’t see Haason Reddick this season, it will be interesting to see what the Jets decide to do in the offseason.
