Green Bay Packers: Two Keys To Victory Against The Cardinals

Green Bay Packers

In week five, the Green Bay Packers are coming off of a victory on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. The Packers will play another NFC opponent in the Arizona Cardinals at Lambeau Field in their upcoming game. Arizona sits with a 2-3 record through the first five games of the 2024 NFL season.

However, the Green Bay Packers have things that they need to do to get a win against them in week six. Here are two keys to victory for the Packers going into their next game at home on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers Passing Attack

Last week in Los Angeles, Packers quarterback Jordan Love went 15-26 for 224 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Green Bay Packers offense stepped up in the second half after a subpar performance by the quarterback in the first 30 minutes. Tight end Tucker Kraft had a career day with four catches for 88 yards and two scores for the Packers receiving core.

Second-year wideout Jayden Reed hauled in six receptions for 78 yards in the air. Romeo Doubs was suspended and did not play as he skipped practice last Thursday and Friday due to being unsatisfied with his role on the offense. Things have circulated around the practice facility regarding Doubs making a return to the team today.

It would certainly help spread the ball around on offense moving forward. Romeo Doubs has not scored any touchdowns, but he does have 12 catches for 169 yards. Getting off to a better start offensively this week will help the Packers’ chances of winning their next contest.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Intensity

Green Bay only gave up 19 points to the Los Angeles Rams a week ago. Free safety Xavier McKinney broke a record in week five with his fifth interception in just as many games. McKinney was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week due to his recent play. He became the first player since 1970 to intercept that many passes by opposing quarterbacks.

Edgerrin Cooper, Karl Brooks, and Preston Smith were able to get to Matthew Stafford in the backfield throughout the last game. Brooks was close to getting in on two sacks with 1.5. One defensive end that needs to get back on track is Rashan Gary with his pass-rush and intimidating presence to pressure opposing signal callers.

Conclusion

If the Green Bay Packers can score earlier on offense and keep momentum throughout the next game, they have a good possibility of beating the Arizona Cardinals. Defensively, the Packers defensive line will have to keep an eye on Kyler Murray since he can run as a dual-threat quarterback. Green Bay will face the Arizona Cardinals at 1:00 pm ET on Fox.
