Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings Week 4 Preview

Green Bay vs. Minnesota Vikings Week 4 Preview

The Green Bay Packers (2-1) will face the Minnesota Vikings (3-0)  today at Lambeau Field. Green Bay and the Vikings are coming off of wins in their previous contests in Week Three. This will be the first meeting between the two franchises in 2024.

While the Minnesota Vikings are undefeated, Green Bay looks to spoil their win streak. Here is a preview of the matchup between the Green Bay Packers and their divisional rival Minnesota Vikings.

The Green Bay Packers are looking to win their third game in a row. The team has an opportunity to beat their division rival on their home turf. Last week against the Tennessee Titans, Malik Willis went 13-19 for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Packers running back Emanuel Wilson scored his first touchdown on the ground since being with the organization. This was the only offensive score for the Green Bay Packers. Defensively, veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander intercepted a pass from Will Levis for his first defensive touchdown as well. The good news for the Green Bay Packers is that their starting quarterback Jordan Love is expected to return.

His playing time could be limited after being sidelined since Week One against the Philadelphia Eagles with a sprained MCL injury. The offense will be key for the Green Bay Packers as they will try to give the Vikings their first loss of the season. Both teams rely on the running game to put up points on offense.

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota is heading into Lambeau with a record of 3-0 after beating the Houston Texans in Week Three. Veteran wideout Justin Jefferson will be the focal point on offense for the Vikings. A week ago, Jefferson brought in six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown behind quarterback Sam Darnold. In past years, the Green Bay Packers had trouble with defending Justin Jefferson.

Running back Aaron Jones will make his first appearance at Lambeau Field in a different uniform. Run defense for Green Bay will have to limit Jones in regards to picking up extra yardage in the run game. Last week Aaron Jones had 19 carries for 102 yards. Harrison Smith led the Minnesota Vikings defensive secondary with seven total tackles and one pass breakup.

Conclusion

The matchup will come down to who can gain full control on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback play on either team is critical as Jordan Love has recovered from his injury sooner than most expected. If he performs well, the Green Bay Packers will have a chance at home.

But, if the Packers’ defense cannot slow down the running game or defend Justin Jefferson, it could be a long day for Green Bay. Fans will certainly enjoy having their starting signal caller back on the football field this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Beating divisional teams is important down the stretch as the regular season moves along. The game will kick off today at 1:00 pm on CBS.
