Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Delivers a Dud

Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love had a day he would like to forget on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles. Love was miserable going 20-of-33 for 212 passing yards and a trio of interceptions. Love’s miserable performance led to the Green Bay Packers losing 22-10. Love’s interception woes bit him again tonight with his seventh multi-interception game of the past two seasons.

Love struggled to build on a great 2023-2024 season that saw him win his first playoff game, and come into the NFL Playoffs the hottest of any quarterback in the league. That was not the case this season as Love struggled to end the regular season and had a miserable playoff performance. Love signed a four-year $220 million contract in July that at the time, made him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The Green Bay Packers expected a better performance from their franchise quarterback. Will he be able to rebound from a terrible game next year?

Green Bay Packers Fizzled Out In Philly

It was always going to be an uphill battle for the Green Bay Packers once they fumbled the opening kickoff and the call was controversially upheld. Green Bay’s defense, one of the league’s best during the regular season, acquitted itself well against a high-flying Eagles attack.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was a respectable 13-of-21 with 131 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Running Back Saquon Barkley was held in check for the most part with 25 carries for 119 yards. His 4.8 yards per carry was a yard below his season average. The issue for the Green Bay Packers defense was constantly being put in tough spots by their offense.

Green Bay’s four turnovers(three interceptions and one fumble) led to only seven points. It was an even game on the stat sheet, but Love’s turnover parade made all the difference. It prevented the Green Bay Packers from ever getting into an offensive rhythm and picking up a defensive that played well in Philadelphia. Green Bay’s defense grew increasingly frustrated as the defense saw the game getting away from them. Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur is one of the league’s best coaches, but his team did not play disciplined football.

Final Thoughts

Love’s performance today, and during the regular season will not instill much confidence as Green Bay enters the offseason. He had a great final half of the 2023 season, but never played at that level this season. That is concerning as Love is with the Packers for years to come. He must tap back into the player who was one of the league’s best at the end of the 2023 season for the team to reach its full potential.
