The Green Bay Packers are in the playoffs and will play their first playoff game this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. However, they will be without Wide receiver Christian Watson. Watson is believed to have torn his ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season. He has dealt with injuries throughout his NFL career. In 2023, he had a hamstring injury that sidelined him and since Week 16 of the 2024 season, he has dealt with a knee injury that is now a torn ACL.
Green Bay Packers Christian Watson Has a Torn ACL
The Green Bay Packers will be without Christian Watson in the playoffs due to a torn ACL suffered during Week 18 against the Chicago Bears. His season ends with 29 catches for 620 yards and 2 touchdowns in 15 games. Watson, a third-year pro who played in all but two games this season, led the Packers with a 21.4-yard average per catch.
He will be forced to watch the Packers make a playoff run on the sidelines and rehab his knee until the 2025 season starts. Depending on Watson’s recovery and rehab, his start to the 2025 season might be in jeopardy. The Packers and Watson hope this is not the case and he will be ready for next season. Watson is coming into the final year of his rookie contract.
Green Bay’s Playoff Path
The Green Bay Packers are playing on the road in this weekend’s wild-card game in Philadelphia without Watson. Quarterback Jordan Love is also banged up from playing in Week 18 with a shoulder injury. Love is still expected to play in the game this weekend but will have only Wide Receivers Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed to throw.
The Packers were 11-6 and finished third in the NFC North. The Detroit Lions won the NFC North and received the first-round bye and will await their opponent. If the Green Bay Packers make it out of the wild-card game against the Eagles they will move on to play the top-seeded Lions.
Final Thoughts
The NFC North was a tight race between all three teams. The Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings. All three teams will look to make a move and make a deep run in the playoffs. It will not be an easy task for any team but time will tell who is going to the next rounds of the playoffs.
