The Green Bay Packers (1-1) will play on the road against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon. This will be the second away game in this short NFL season. They have made another roster move with injuries still looming for the Green Bay Packers organization. Adding depth at the running back position is critical as the season progresses.
After AJ Dillon was ruled out for the rest of the year, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd was next in line as the second-string guy in the backfield. Early this week the Green Bay Packers signed another running back to their 53-man roster instead of Lloyd, who was put on injured reserve Tuesday.
Green Bay Packers Add RB Chris Brooks To Roster
Chris Brooks played a short stint with the Miami Dolphins in the 2023 preseason. He tallied up 106 yards on 19 carries last season against the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, Brooks has not played many snaps in the National Football League up to this point in his career. The Packers coaching staff is impressed with his running ability even though he has not been on the field much.
Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke on the newest addition in the running back room. LaFleur stated, “He’s a very serious guy about ball and I love his running style. He runs with a good forward lean, he’s got great body control, he can stick his foot in the ground and he’s one of those one-cut runners. I think he’s really intelligent, so he’s picked up our protections no problem. I’m excited about him.”
Now, Chris Brooks will be playing behind veteran running back Josh Jacobs until Lloyd is cleared to play again. Until that time, Jacobs will continue to carry the load as the starter. In their last win against the Indianapolis Colts, Josh Jacobs ran for a solid 151 yards on 32 carries. Jacobs piled up over 30 yards throughout the game at several different times.
Green Bay Packers Injuries
Green Bay is hoping to get their starting quarterback back on the field within the next two weeks. This has been the biggest concern for the Green Bay Packers after their Week One loss to the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago. Jordan Love returned to practice on Tuesday in a limited fashion away from any contact in practice.
In the meantime, Malik Willis will be the signal caller for the second week in a row. If the rest of the team can remain healthy, fans are hoping for a good season and a possible chance for the playoffs at the end of the regular season. The Green Bay Packers will face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
