Green Bay Packers: 3 Keys To Victory Against The Vikings

Green Bay vs. Minnesota Vikings Week 4 Preview

The Green Bay Packers (2-1) are heading into Week Four of the NFL season. Green Bay beat the Tennessee Titans on the road in their last game by a score of 30-14. Now the Packers will face a division rival this week in the Minnesota Vikings (3-0) at Lambeau Field. For the Green Bay Packers to come away victorious, a few things will be the primary focus in Week Four.

Here are three keys to victory for the Packers as they will see the Minnesota Vikings come to town on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers Run Game

Green Bay Packers backup running back, Emanuel Woilson
Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson (31) outruns Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (38) to score a 30 yard touchdown in the third quarter of their game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.

Green Bay will need to run the ball against the Vikings. Malik Willis led the team to victory in Week Three going 13-19 for 202 yards and one touchdown. Willis’ ability to pick up yards on the ground against his former team is a bright aspect for the Packers. He ran for 73 yards, which gave the Green Bay Packers a boost on offense.

Backup running back Emanuel Wilson ran for 50 yards on 12 carries as Josh Jacobs saw limited carries throughout the game due to a back issue from the previous week. Wilson scored his first touchdown as a Packer last Sunday. If Josh Jacobs can play against Minnesota it will give the running back room more depth and carries can be split between both players.

Green Bay Packers Limit Justin Jefferson

Pass defense for the Green Bay Packers will be critical in Week Four. But, the Packers’ defense is aware of the versatility that Justin Jefferson has on their offense. Last week, Jefferson caught six passes for 81 yards and one score. With Sam Darnold at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, the two teammates have not gotten their timing and chemistry together this early in the 2024 season.

Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will likely be covering Jefferson in the secondary. He has been listed on the injury report with a quad injury but did practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. The defense will have to play their best game to date. A win against their rival could help their place in the division.

Packers Quarterback Play

Malik Willis may be starting in his third straight game for the Green Bay Packers. So far, he has impressed his coaches and teammates with the poise and composure that he has shown in the past two games. Starting quarterback Jordan Love was potentially eyeing a return this week. But, Willis will have to continue to take command of the Packers’ offense until Jordan Love is cleared to play.

Emanuel Wilson scored the lone touchdown on offense for Green Bay in Week Three against the Tennessee Titans. Wide receivers such as Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs have to take part in catching the ball in the next game.

Conclusion

Green Bay has an opportunity to win their third game in a row on Sunday. It will be a tough task to handle one of the best wideouts in the National Football League. Taking care of the football and producing points is the obvious solution for the Green Bay Packers’ success in Week Four. The game will be televised on CBS at 1:00 pm ET.
