Team Greece Qualifies for Olympics for the First Time Since 2008

With the Olympics getting closer and closer, the Greece men’s national basketball team has found its way in. Greece was blazing hot during the qualifiers, and it helped them get to the top. It also helps that they have NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the helm. With the qualifiers behind them, the team can now look towards aiming for a medal, something they have never done before. Antetokounmpo will have the chance to bring Olympic glory home this summer.

There was no stopping the Greece men’s national basketball team from getting this win. They were hungry, and you could tell by the way they played. Atetokounmpo had a great game with 23 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. However, it doesn’t stop there. The Greek Freak also managed to contribute a block and a steal. His defense was locked in.

Giannis wasn’t the only Greek player to throw down the gauntlet today. Georgios Papagiannis had 19 points and two rebounds, while Nick Calathes had 14 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds. It was an all-around great effort from the starting five.

One must also give a shot out to the NBA’s Ivica Zubac, who couldn’t bring his team to victory. The Croatian center contributed 19 points and 12 rebounds. However, it wasn’t enough to win the game.

What’s Next For the Greek Team

There is still one team that needs to be decided from the Olympic Qualifiers for Group A. Right now, the list consists of Greece, Australia, and Canada. This puts Greece in a bit of a dangerous situation. Canada is one of the top teams and is full of talent from the NBA. Australia took care of business in February, swiftly taking out South Korea and Indonesia.

Antetokounmp and his team will need to bring their A-game if they truly want to bring Greece their first Olympic medal. It will be a difficult path, but it is doable. They will need their top performers to come out and play hard because Canada and Australia will easily take control of the game.

Could Greece Defeat France or the USA?

The French national team sits in Group B, while the USA is in Group C. These two teams are set to be absolute juggernauts this year. Starting with France, they have the two towers Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert protecting the paint. Scoring on this team has proven to be very difficult. It would be a challenge for Greece if they had to play against France. However, there is a chance that the Greek Freak finds a way to football-plow his way through the two of them.

Next up is the Redeem Team. The United States wants gold this year, and they won’t settle for anything less. If Greece were to play them, things might get tricky. The USA is full of the best basketball talent you can find in the NBA. Of course, some of the current best aren’t from the United States, but there is still a large number of American talents. This team was built to stomp on anything that gets in its way.

Unfortunately, I can’t see Greece taking home gold this year. It’s highly probable that the team gets a medal this summer, but managing to get first place against some of these stacked lineups would be extremely difficult. France has two defensive nightmares, and the United States is a deadly weapon.
