Golden Knights Raise Money For VGK Foundation

Golden Knights

With the 2024-2025 NHL season just over a month away, the Vegas Golden Knights put down the sticks, and grab golf clubs to fundraise for the VGK Foundation. The 2024 Annual VGK Golf Classic held at the Wynn golf course in Las Vegas, was an opportunity for the team to give back to the community and meet some of their fans.

The Vegas Golden Knights took a break from the frigid temperature on the rink to enjoy some Las Vegas sun on September 3, 2024. The VGK Annual Golf Classic raised money for the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation. The team raised money through partnership packages, tickets sold to play with the Knights, and a golf after-party. A few of the attending players this year were Mark Stone, Brayden McNabb, William Karlsson, Tomas Hertl, Shea Theodore, Kaeden Korzack, Keegan Kolesar, Nick Hague, Alex Pietrangelo, Zach Whitecloud, and a few others. Tickets quickly sold out.

The Golden Knights Annual Golf Classic was held at the Wynn Golf Club and sponsored by Wynn Resorts. The 2023 VGK Golf Classic was also held at the Wynn Golf Club. Last year’s events, had ticket prices at $12,500. Each guest received a few perks: a shirt, limitless food and drink, a gift bag, and a round of golf, potentially with a Golden Knight. The Golden Knights also promoted a professional culinary class taught by an executive chef at the Wynn Resort, priced at $750 a ticket.

The VGK Foundation

One of the many ways the VGK franchise gives back to the community, donating throughout the year, is with the VGK Foundation. This past June, the VGK Foundation donated $300,000 to 25 organizations in the Las Vegas Valley. A few charities that received the momentous donation were the Nevada Veterans Foundation, American Red Cross, Foster Kinship, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, Girls on the Run, Latino Youth Leadership Foundation, and more.

The Henderson Silver Knights is an affiliate hockey club of the Vegas Golden Knights. The Silver Knights play for the AHL (American Hockey League). They also donated a significant amount this past June. After some hard work, they gave a total of $45,000 to six organizations. Foundations and charities such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Nevada, Serving our Kids, U.S Vets, Goodwill of Southern Nevada, HomeAid Southern Nevada, and the Collaboration Center Foundation.

Why This Matters

Behind the power plays, hat-tricks, and high-powered physicality of the NHL, teams like the Las Vegas Golden Knights hold their local communities in their hearts.  Sports in the United States and around the world produce a serious chunk of change, but it is always important to give back to the community. With the outreach, humbling experiences, and getting to know a world-class athlete, these events not only help important causes, but create lifelong memories for the players, fans, and everyday people alike.
