Ten Las Vegas Golden Knights players have ranked in the top 200 of the upcoming NHL Fantasy League season. Mark Stone, Adin Hill, Shea Theodore, William Karlsson, Jack Eichel, Ilya Samsonov, Noah Hanifin, Alex Pietrangelo, Ivan Barbashev, and Tomas Hertl.  Mild push-back has transpired due to the considered low rankings for the Knights.

Jack Eichel takes the highest NHL Fantasy ranking the Golden Knights players at 29. Not shocking by any stretch. Last season Eichel played 63 games and totaled 68 points. Staying healthy this season is his priority.  If he does, we can expect to see Eichel break out with a higher point total this season. Next, we have Tomas Hertl coming in at 77. Hertl’s start in the NHL is unrivaled but with his injured past, we can only hope his health prevails this season. Captain Mark Stone also made the list at 110.  The thirty-two-year-old has played a total of 640 games and earned 567 points.

The last two forwards of the Golden Knights that made the Fantasy rankings are Ivan Barbashev and William Karlsson. Karlsson placed at a controversial 122. Karlsson finished the postseason with 20 points in 15 games during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The original misfit has been with the Golden Knights since their inception in 2017. He is now, one of the last remaining original Golden Knights players.  Last season Karlsson played 70 games and mounted up to 60 points. Barbashev pulled the ranking of 190. Barbashev has been with the Golden Knights since 2023, after being traded from the St. Louis Blues for forward Zach Dean.

Back Line Ranked Players

Our NHL Fantasy-ranked defensemen are Shea Theodore, Noah Hanifin, and Alex Pietrangelo. There has been disappointment with many of the rankings, but most severely with the rankings of Hanifin and Pietranagelo.  Theodore ranked 143., Hanifin 176., and Pietrangelo 165. All three defensemen have had quite impressive NHL careers. Their projected points this season, Theodore, (54), Pietrangelo (51), and Hanifin (50), have some questioning their rankings.

Adin Hill and Ilya Samsonov are our top 200 NHL Fantasy ranking goal tenders from the Golden Knights. Hill shocked the world with his versatility and dependability in the nets. Since being with the Golden Knights (2022) he has increased his spotlight significantly. With the roundabout of goal tenders Vegas has had in the last few years, and losing Logan Thompson, these two are needed. Hill’s save percentage is .910 and holds the ranking of 129. Ilya Samonov secured a ranking of 171. He was signed as a free agent with the Golden Knights on July 1, 2024. His average save percentage is .904 (SV%). How he performs for the Golden Knights is yet to be seen.

Conclusion

Whether the rankings are fair is up to the audience. The NHL Fantasy rankings for the nearly upon us new season, have certainly caused a few eyebrow raises, but ten Golden Knights players on the list is deserved indeed. The theme of this season, health, should be heavily considered by the Vegas hockey club. Considering the last few years of dissension regarding the Golden Knights IR (injured reserve), keeping these players in optimal condition needs to be a priority. Nevertheless, a warranted congratulations to the players who made the rankings.
