Golden Knights Add Impressive Players To Roster

Golden Knights

The optimistic upside to the downside of losing multiple Golden Knights is the addition of a multitude of new players. The Golden Knights have added many new names to the roster with the combination of the draft, trades, and free agent signings. The Golden Knights are growing and refining their fortress for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

During the 2024 trading season, some of the most memorable Golden Knights have left the fortress. The upside is who the Las Vegas Golden Knights received in return. On June, 29, Golden Knights General Manager, Kelly McCrimmon, announced the acquisition of towering goalie Akira Schmid, and star Forward Alexander Holtz from the New Jersey Devils. In return, the Knights traded Forward Paul Cotter along with the third-round pick of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Standing at six-foot-five, Akira Schmid encompasses the net. It isn’t uncommon to lose sight of anything behind the giant. With a career total of 979 shots against Schmid, he averages a .899% save percentage. While his average is considered .001% below average, the Golden Knights appear to see significant potential in the goalie. In tandem with Schmid, Alexander Holtz has played a total of 110 games in the NHL and has earned 34 career points. Considering Holtz is four years deep in his NHL career, with the new club, he may sprout into an intimidating force.

More Trades

As a part of a three-team trade, the Golden Knights acquired Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames. Calgary received a first-round pick, a conditional third-round pick, as well as Golden Knights Defenseman, Daniil Miromanov. The Philadelphia Flyers were also involved. They received a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.  Gaining news coverage last season, Hanifin has excelled in his career, improving his game each season.

Another addition to the Golden Knight’s roster is Victor Olofsson. Vegas has committed to a year with Olofsson and an average annual value(AAV) of $1,0750,00. The forward has spent the entirety of his NHL career (six years) with the Buffalo Sabres. In 314 games played, he has a total of 182 points.

What This Means For Vegas

With the loss of heavy-hitting Golden Knights players this offseason, the promise of new blood and good statistics is a necessity. These picks are truly optimistic and can land the Golden Knights back in the playoffs. Akira Schmid, Alexander Holtz, Noah Hanifin, and Victor Olofsson have already landed on the roster, providing synergy with the rest of the team. To conclude, if there is anything fans, players, coaches, managers, and owners have learned since the franchise’s birth, it is never to underestimate the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
