Gervonta Davis is expected to be back in the ring this year. The tentative return will be on November 23, 2024, or December 14. We previously heard rumors of a November 2 fight but boxing insider Dan Rafael claimed that there are two potential dates for Davis who boasts of a record of 30-0 by knockout ratio of 28.
Possible Doubleheader with David Benavidez
If Gervonta Davis does fight on December 14, there are rumors that PBC could put him against current Light Heavyweight contender David Benavidez on the same pay-per-view platform. This doubleheader could significantly boost PPV sales, especially if both fighters face relatively unknown opponents. This is particularly the case since casual boxing fans may not be familiar with their challengers, therefore, the star power that comes with Davis and Benavidez may be instrumental in making the fight of interest to the public.
The last time the two fighters fought together Gervonta Davis KO’d Frank Martin in eight on June 15 on a fight card that generated a huge amount of PPV buys. If Benavidez was not going to be on the card then that fight could have possibly lacked the attention of the fans since there was little interest in the fight between Davis and Martin.

The circumstances surrounding his next fight are not well known either. A few hazy details about Gervonta Davis’ opponent are available. Some people who are mentioned to be interested in challenging Buh debuted in the laboratory two names are Edwin De Los Santos and Rayo Valenzuela. However, Rayo (14-2, 9 KOs) recently won the WBA 140-pound title meaning he would not want to move down to 135 pounds to fight Davis for his WBA ‘regular’ lightweight title.
The 29-year-old will require a very competitive fighter to sustain this upward trend. It doesn’t matter who he will be fighting next time, this fight could be the last one before a match with Shakur Stevenson that is planned for next year 2025.

In preparation for a potential showdown with Stevenson, Gervonta Davis must face an opponent with a similar style. Rayo Valenzuela, a slick mover, could fit that mold. Although he’s physically bigger and stronger than Stevenson, Rayo can fight with a style reminiscent of Shakur when needed. Many view Rayo as a more entertaining and fan-friendly version of Stevenson, which could make him an intriguing opponent for Davis.
